PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT
DURING THE LATE 1800'S AND EARLY 1900'S AMERICA EXPERIENCING A MOVEMENT TO CHANGE THE "CLIMATE." ISSUES INCLUDED RACISM AND LYNCHING, WOMAN'S RIGHT TO VOTE, CHILD LABOR LAWS, IMMIGRATION, CORRUPT CORPORATIONS, SAFETY AND STRIKES AT WORK. BASICALLY, TRYING TO CLEAN UP THE BAD AND INCREASE THE GOOD. HAVE THINGS CHANGED? LOOKING AT ALL THE ISSUES ABOVE HOW HAVE THEY CHANGED. AND FINALLY, WHAT ISSUE(S) DO WE NEED TO ADDRESS TODAY.

I think our racism has changed by not being segragated anymore...We have an african american president. Women are voting now! And here in America we don't have children in sweat shops.
I believe that it has change little but I also believe that there still racism in the whole world.I think that there is still a lot of descrimination against the hispanics.
I think things have change a lot. It is illegal to lynch people, woman have had the right to vote for quite some time , children CAN NOT work until they are 16 years of age, and we offer plenty of health care for workers. The issues that we still face today are immigration, our nation at war, and the economic crisis that is effecting most of us as of current.
A lot of the issues have remained the same if you ask me. Ya sure, racism has gone down a notch but there are still TONS of racists out there. Blacks are still called names, and looked down upon but they are civil in society and there is no segragation.
i feel like we still need to work on that, we also need to work on getting along with other countries, & the crime rate through out the united states. its pretty horrible!
i know that if there was less drug issues, and less crimes there would be less murders and less idk,, EVERYTHING bad. it would increase the good by a lot. but there is always things that can be fixed about you the United States.
I don't think that thing have changed as much as they should have. I know that we are not segragated anymore but I still think that there are sweat shops. But not here in america though. Other countries like in Europe. We do have women rights and we can vote and children don't have to work instead they attend school.
There is not as much racism but it is still around like the kkk and all the other white supremacy gangs.
I think that there is still people fighting for different rights, and still fighting for woman's rights. There is still racism going on but it's not as bad as it used to be. There are now child labor laws and are no sweat shops.
I think that many things have changed. There is no longer racism and women have the right to vote. In America there are no overworked children either. For the most part I think that things have changed greatly since that time. I can only think of the economy when I think of current problems or maybe even illegal immigration to the U.S
we dont have a big problem with racism anymore although its still out there, women today have a lot more rights then what they once had. but the one thing that is going on right now is the immigration of mexicans to the US and a lot of people have a problem with that.
Government involvement in the late 1800's resulted in new standards for the workplace. Problems with immigration, corrupt corporations and various other issues are still around.
I think things have definitely changed. Children cant work, women have rights, and we are no longer segregated.
But we still have issues that need to be addressed. There is still a lot of racism in our country.
Racism has changed a little but it still consists of the same things. Lynching, isn't around as far I know, so that is gone. Immigration, there is a lot of immigration and we can't really do anything about it just yet but hopefully one day we will have to. Corrupt Corporations is still very much alive, people are very much corrupt still and probably always will be. Safety and Strikes are still around but they've changed a lot because most of ours now-a-days strikes are more subtle than before with all the violence. To clean up the bad and increase the good would be a very bad idea since we can't live without the bad but also can't live with it since we live off of both of them.
well women can vote now and there's no complaint about it.children under the age of 16 cant work and right now its hard to even find work.spanish people are immigrating from Mexico.there's still racism in the world but not as much as before, and i think lynching is out.their are still some corporations that are corrupt.we're better off then they were in the 1900's but there are still some things we need to work on.

I think things have changed however they still exist none the less. I get hundreds of racist comments a day. I hear plenty of womens rights jokes or things like that. We don't have to deal with child labor in America but I'm sure some other countries do terribly

Racism has significantly decreased over the years and working conditions have improved dramatically. You can no longer lynch people. One of the big problems we face is immigration.

Things have not changed at all,we wouldn't have to be dealing with war,our economy crisis and immigration.People are being ignorant and don't want to face reality. Michel

I think that all of those things are still around, racism will never end. The only way to stop any of it is to decline it, slow it down.

the issues that we need to address today is racism because even today sossiety is segragated.
These issues have changed, but not all of them have gone away. Things such as immigration are still being talked about today, and many of them are still very controversial. Things that have changed in a positive way are things like child labor laws (In the US), and woman's right to vote... Issues that need/are being addressed today are health care, etc.
I believe some things have changed, but there are some people out there that are still racist. An example of change is we have an african american President. Woman now have the right to vote, and children have to be at the age of 16 to work but are not forced to work. I honestly believe the world has changed to make it better place.
I think racism has changed. There is still racism in the world. It has changed by not being segregated. Women also have the right to vote.
KOBe!!
I think that some things have changed. Of course theres still some prejudice going on but theres obviously no segregation and our current president is even African American. Also, there are unions to help prevent unfair treatment at work. And, women have the right to vote. However, i still think people treat immigrants unfairly based on stereotypes. And as for corrupt corporations, theres always going to be people who are corrupt and you just have to live with it.
Yes, things have changed for the most part but in some areas of the world things are still bad. Like in other countries there is still child labor and some women are still not created equally. Also there is a lot of corrupt corporations.
the issuses have changed like the womens rights to vote, and child labor laws. women are equal to men now a days and today its illegal to force children to work. im sure curruption still existis today but its rare and more descrete in mons countries.
I think things have changed for the most part. Racism is fading away more and more, and there are laws now protecting against racism. Woman are now prominent figures in society, and they can vote. There are may laws protecting against child labor, and children aren't forced to work. THere are still issues with immigration; some people are against immigrants coming to America, while some are trying to fight for the freedom in America. Today, we still need to work on issues people have with gay marriage and families. People still have a lot of prejudice against gays and it's time to just accept people.
We have fixed many of our problems. We have a african american president. there are still some corupted corporations. Our country is always advancing.
Well i'd say we've come very far with the whole racism problem but also have a ways to go before it is solved. They don't really do hangings anymore. Child labor laws are much stricter and so are immigration laws. but as with everything there are flaws and ways to get around laws. Strikes still happen to this day and are sometimes even productive. all in all i'd say we've come pretty far and hopefully we will go even further.
I think that racism has changed a lot, but there are still some people out there was are racist. Lynching has been reduced to only a few places, but doesn't happen very often. Woman are allowed to vote now! Working is defiantly safer then what it was before. Even though issues from the 1800's and 1900's have been resolved, there are still many things that are a problem today.
I think that Some things have changed but when you watch the news and it tells you that Tis person did this and that person did that, and there are still Strikes in the work place. Nothing really ever actually changes just the way things are done change like the electric chair is now lethal injection. As for our issues now we are dealing with terrorist attacks and war, but do we ever get a break from war?
SInce the late 1800s and the early 1900s, the racial, labor, gender, immigration, and corporation issues have changed pretty dramatically. Hanging was deemed a cruel and unusual punishment in most all of the states, the slaves were freed and eventually given equal rights, children under a certain age could not work, working conditions were improved, Roosevelt made it so that no corporation could have too much power, women were given rights, and immigrants were not treated quite as lepers. Today, I believe immigration is still somewhat of an issue. In some countries, the immigrants are treated like dogs and I dont believe that it is fair.
Things have not changed, only the issues. Sure slavery has been abolished, but racism still occurs in restaurants, stores, even schools. Some people still get turned down for jobs because of race/nationality. Women can have jobs and vote, but there are still men getting paid more than them even though it's not politically correct. In some areas of work, children are still being forced to work. The idea is nothing has changed it's merely been "upgraded" so to speak. Government corruption and poverty levels and unemployment is high and we need to address those issues.
yes things have changed but not all that much we still have racism but its has gotten less and less frequent in the world. one of the problems we need to dress is the constant flux in the way our citizens are being paid and the taxes they pay
Yes things have changed, but stuff always comes back. Our society seems to go in a cycle. We know what's wrong and stop it yet we always go back to it. But it may not be as extreme as some of the things they did back than. Yes, we don't lynch but we still have racism. Of course no more labor laws here in the US. There are strikes at work but we don't have guns, usually peaceful strikes. Things are lesser of what they were before. So in a way I don't think much has change. I think we need to find a way to stop immigration, make a quicker process to get a green card. Also to help racism go down. I can rant on and on about how things have changed but in reality things are still the same in a way. (:
Racism has changed significantly from how it was back in the day. Im not saying there isnt any racism today but its not as it was back then. I believe the most discriminated group is the hispanics. Thats something people need to change. Discrimination is a problem people need to fix, and not just to hispanics but to all foreign groups
i would have to say that alot of the problems from the past have changed dramatically some them dont even exist anymore.though now we still have alot of racism that might not change anytime soon but at least its not as bad as how it used to be.
I think in a way it has changed but there is still racism in this country, for me being from another country and coming here I've experienced some racism. I think it has change but in someway somethings are still going on and they get worse and worse everyday.
They have changed. Racism is barely here anymore, lynching is only in a few places, Women can vote, a kid has to be around 16 to work, immigration is amoung us, Corporations aren't THAT corrupt, No strikes. Things have changed but not a lot. Health Care, Money problems and just a few things like that.
Racism is still very much alive in the United States today whether people like to acknowledge it or not. The other issues have been almost entirely erased. Woman are pretty much equals and have the same rights as men and child labor has been totally erased.
Honestly, for each issue fixed, one more popped up in its stead. Trying to fix the world is a pretty stupid idea, considering that everything has flaws. We've stopped lynching people, but instead now we have gangs that'll jump or kill you because of your race or the color shirt you're wearing.
Sexism exists still, but now it's flipped around and is much more subtle. If I apply to a college, and a girl applies to a college with the exact same information, guess who gets accepted. Not me.
Immigration is still as bad as it used to be, except now there are commercials against it. Because of media influence, it's assumed that illegal immigrants bring crime with them. Granted, some of them do and they aren't here legally, but they're still human beings. Most of them just want a better life that is out of reach on paper.
Child labor laws are a joke. Even though I couldn't technically get a job, I've been building berms during the summer since I was fourteen. That's more strenuous and back-breaking labor than I'd be doing if there weren't any child labor laws.
All corporations are corrupt, all corporations are wrong. Don't even get me started on them.
yes things have changed some for better and some for the worst the ill eagle corruption is still existent today but is still around today.
i do believe todays issues revolve around money. when people are happy they don't think about others and don't care about the "BAD".
There is still racism, segregation, child labor, corruptions etc.in America but these issues have decreased, even though we still have to recognize and deal with these problems. There is a lot we can do to reform and create more equality. Like predjudices against other races, more equal sallaries among the sexes.
ya i think racism has changed its not as big of problem as it was back then but we still do have people that are racist. i think we still might have corrupt corporations but they are much more hidden and away from the media and public eye. women are voting now so thats good. and overall we are trying to clean up the bad and increase the good. finally we just need to make sure the bad things arent repeated
I don't think racism has fully changed. We are not segregated anymore, but I feel thats one big issue we need to address. Child labor laws and woman's right to vote has changed which is good. Immigration has not changed and that's another issue we need to talk about as a country. I think the biggest issue we need to address more is war and where it is getting us. I'm not talking about why we are in it or how we got ourselves in it, but what is it doing to our soldiers and their families.
I believe that our society has changed greatly in a sense that we have matured and also learned to exept different ideas. Though we still have situations like strikes, racism, and some womens rights the issues are in specific areas and aren't a national problem.
I think most of the things that needed to change for the better have changed for the better and things that are difficult to decide on due to the changing opinions of the decades will remain to be debated till there is no more left to say about it. Our government society and economy are constantly changing and those three things are the things that decide debates such as CHILD LABOR LAWS, IMMIGRATION, CORRUPT CORPORATIONS, SAFETY AND STRIKES AT WORK.
