Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Your first amendment rights, collectively is considered to be the most important out of all 27 amendments. Your mission on this blog is threefold. (three parts) One, decide which of the five freedoms you think is the most important and why. Two, which of the freedoms would you be willing to give up and why?(be careful). And finally, which freedom do you feel should be added?

Write at least three sentences per question.
1. I think the freedom of speech freedom is the best one because it gives me and all the people to speak freely and have our own say in things and opinion. It also makes people be them and not just like another person.
2. i'd be willing to give up my freedom to petition the government. i say this because i think if the government comes up with a law that it will be the best for the people, not make the worst for the people.
3. One freedom that should be added is the freedom to come into this country not having to pay for papers or anything bt as long as long your having a job and helping America out then it should be ok to be here.
I think freedom of speech is the most important. If we couldn't speak up and use our voices, we would have a lot of unhappy people. Out of all the freedoms, I think i'd be able to give up freedom of religion just because i've never had a religious family so i'm not religious. Even if someone made me try to practice a religion I probably wouldn't. I think freedom of school should be added. Meaning certain mandatory classes like biology and chemistry and geometry don't have to be taken.
The most important freedom for me is the freedom of speech because it's hard to keep words to myself.
I would give up the right to peacably assemble because there's other ways to protest. ;p
I can't think of any more freedoms to add.
I think that the right to peaceably assemble is the most important, because when you get a bunch of people in front of somewhere, it's kinda impossible to ignore.
I would be willing to give up, reluctantly, I might add, the right to petition for a redress, only because it's the one that I hear least about.
I think that the freedom of government should be added, this would be the ability to vote a new type of government in, I'm literally only saying this because I don't know what else to put that we don't already have..
Well the freedom that I literally think is the most, most important is, freedom of speech. People all over should be able to speak their opinion and be part of their country in some way. The two freedoms that I would give up only if I had too would be, the freedom to petition the government and a redress of grievences. I really don't know why people keep on trying to change their country they really aren't in control of those decisions, I truly beieve that the government now is in charge of us and doesn't really listen to us. I know that isn't a positive thing but I believe that the only way we get to decide what happens is voting for a president, or senator, etc. The freedom that should be added would be the freedom for ALL ethincitys to roam wherever but be respectful to that place.
shotchkiss-ya i agree with everything. we do have a lot of good freedoms already.
Sean McSpadden- i agree with you because i don't really her about the right to petition very much and i can't see myself as a person that would do that or take it to that level.,.
steven you have literally read my mind and we pretty much put the same thing, just different wording.
ndickinson- why do you have a winky face?
I think the moust important one is to have freedom of speech because that way we can expres to the government and we can get to vote for the what we think is right, what is the best for us and for the country.I wold give my peaceably assemble because even thou its in the amendments the government never actually lesin to the people and its just worst because many people get arrested because they get out of control.
RAUL C.
1) I think that the most important freedom is the freedom of speech because yo want your voice to be heard by everyone, and not limited by what the gov't wants you to say. This freedom, I feel, is one of the most important because it goes out for everyone that wants to have their voices heard and not silenced.
2) I would give up the freedom of religion because I have no religion and I have no intention of joining a particular religion in general. And also for my family, we don't belong to a religion so why do we even need this amendment. But for other people, they need this so they can practice their religion to what they believe in.
3) I honestly don't know what freedom should be added because we already hae a lot of freedoms that give us all what we need in general terms. I mean, we already have enough freedoms that gives us all that we need to be ourselves and not have the gov't silence us or take away what we already have from us.
Freedom of the press is the most important freedom because it allows everyone to know exactly what is going on in our country. The press gives as much information as possible to the people, and without it, freedom of speech would hardly exist, other than to protest the freedom of the press. Without media and press, hardly anyone in this country would have a clue of what is going on in the nation, and therefore would have very little to exercise their freedom of speech or right to assembly on.
I could go without the right to peacefully assemble. We already have freedom of speech to project how we feel about a matter, and right to petition if we want a change made. So, if we don't like something, we talk about it, then we petition, and if our government doesn't make the change we want, I hardly think our assemblies would be peaceful anyway.
I don't see a need for any rights to be added. Actually, adding any more rights would be granting us one too many. The rights we have now neither oppress us, nor do they raise us up. They simply put us on equal grounds and let us make of it what we will.
I believe the most important freedom is the freedom of religion. People from around our prejudice world can come to America and feel safe in our country. They know they cannot be harmed for what they believe.
I would be willing to give up freedom of the press, I suppose. Celebrities often have their reputation trashed and some of the media can never be trusted. The paperazzi would have to control themselves, too, and give people space.
I feel the freedom of partnership should be added. Gays should be able to marry each other if they desired to. What harm could come from it? Would Russia invade? I don't think so. If they want to live life as normal couples and sign their promises on paper, then let it be done. There is no harm in it.
Sean McSpadden- your right, i dont hear about that one. so i could give that up too
1.The parts of the first amendment are all very important but freedom of speech is the most important to me because I feel everyone should be able to speak their mind
2.I wouldnt be able to give up any of my rights, because they are MY rights and we need all of them.
3. I dont think anything should be added either those cover everything already.
@NDickinson
I think that the right to peacably assemble is more important than you might think. Look at events in history for instance, sit-ins, standing your ground as tanks are trying to move through the streets, the right to peacably assemble is important, no matter if there are other ways to protest, writing a letter doesn't work as well.
sharman, I like the idea of the right to school because if what you do for your career and whatnot has nothing to do with what you learned, why take the class? it would be a waste of time. :/
catlin- i totally agree with the gay marriages. people should be able to be happy and be with the person they love.
Petitioning the government for a redress of grievances is the most important out of all five of these rights because to be able to complain to your government about what you want allowed and not allowed is important.
I would be willing to give up the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press because technically we can say whatever we want but most of the time we get in trouble for what we say or write, so I would be willing to give up these.
I think that the freedom to be whatever you want to be no matter what anyone else may say should be added.
I think that freedom of speech is most important because if you cant say what you want then this wouldn't be a democracy. If the people don't have a voice this would be no different then a dictatorship.
I would not give up any of my rights. I think all of the first amendment rights are very important. If i gave up any of them i don't think i could live a happy life.
i don't think anything should be added. I love our bill of rights and would not change a thing.
Sean McSpadden I like how you said something different other than picking freedom of speech and it was well explained and showed that, that one is important too
1. All of the first amendment rights are extremely crucial to a fair and unbiased country. The most important right in the first amendment is the freedom of speech because it gives people the ability to say what they want without having to worry about "big brother" watching over them.
2. Giving up one of these freedoms would not be easy but i believe the one we could go with out is the establishment of religion. We could go with out this right because it affects the least amount of people compared to the loss of free speech or free press.
3. The first amendment already seems so close to perfect, treating everyone with fairness and equality, but its not flawless. I would add to the first amendment through the right of a lower cost of a college education so that everyone has an equal chance to earn a degree.
I agree with steven Espinoza because freedom of speech is very important and it does help the people to comunicate and make our country a better place with every bodys opinion.
The most important, to me anyways, is the right of freedom of speech. I feel that for that birthright to be omitted from any official statement of rights and privileges.
As far as rights that I could possibly do without I'd have to say the right to petition the government and peacefully assemble. All though it is rather important, I feel that if the time comes we must carry out that right It shouldn't matter if its legal or not. If the government is out of line to the point where we must petition, assemble and peacefully (for the most part) protest, The government-being the saintly, perfect one that it is-should deal with what they're doing wrong; Not the other way around.
Finally, If anything should be stated in the first amendment it should be the freedom of expression, one of the nurturing factors of human evolution. It was this right that serves as the cradle of most other liberties and as well as the cradle for any and all culture evolution (or lack thereof).
I think that the first amendment is the most important one out of all of them. Without out that first amendment we wouldn't be able to talk about what ever we want when ever we want. The one i would give up is peaceably assemble because the goverment doesn't really listen to every single person about there problems.
@shotchkiss
I think the freedom of religion would also affect agnostics (people with no religion to put it simple) as well, Seth. If you gave up the freedom of religion, they could say you could not be agnostic.. and that you had to have a religion.... 0_o;
sharman
i understand that your not religious but if you give up the freedom of religion they could force a religion on you and that wouldn't be fun.
1. The most important first amendment right is "or abridging the freedom of speech." This is important because people will always need a voice that can speak up against the government or for what is right.
2. The freedom that I would give up would be "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. This is an easy one to give up for me because I am not religious. You can respect a specific religious establishment without giving up the freedom of religion and that relatively balances it out.
3. There doesn't need to be any more freedoms added to the constitution. The ones that are already added account for everything that I would need.
shotchkiss- I was going to correct you on why we have freedom of religion, but you saved your reasoning in the end of your second comment. I agree, freedom of religion is not as important to anyone like us who have no, or belong to, any religion. But to the countless others who Do, they should be allowed freedom to practice what they believe. Good comment though.
1.I think the most important is the freedom to petition the government for a redress of grievances because it gives a power over the government. Not total, but it still it gives a chance to make things better for the people, by the people...or it could make it horribly bad, there are always the stupid people.
2.I guess I could give up the right to peacefully assemble. Who says we can't do it unpeacefully? Haha. That would be chaotic.
3.I think we should have the freedom to be a U.S. citizen if we lived here most of our lives. Like those people that lived here since they were 3 and discover when they're about to go to college that they're illegal and have to wait to another 5 years to even go to school again and gain citizenship.
...Not sure if that counts.
:]
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" is the most important part of the first amendment because multiple people come from other parts of the world, even in the past, for religious freedom. Religion is one of the main causes for wars and arguments and freedom from being prosecuted from religion can keep people from fighting with each other.
"Everyone to their own"
I would give up the freedom of the press because i don't see how that would be important. The other parts are so much more important to keeping of self expression and freedom.
I don't know what i would add. The amendment it self is well written. Plus, we already have the freedom to do much, within reason.
Caitlin, I agree with the freedom of religion as the most important because people come over to America to find peace to practice their religion in peace and serendipity.
Do you really want to give up the freedom of the press, don't the people need to know what is going on in life and not figure out what is going on for themselves?
Partnership, for gays, OK I can go with that because they have a right to get married if they wanted to, I mean that everyone should be happy and feel good.
1. I would say the freedom of speech, since it gives you the freedom to say anything and speak your mind. If there is anything you want to say you could just say it and it should be respected.
2. I don't know which one I would give up cause sometimes to express one right you need to use another and I don't want to be forced into a religion that i don't believe in. But i might say the freedom to assemble. i don't really have a reason why, just seems like one that i wouldn't really use.
3. Freedom of Wear.
Freedom is a matter of world-wide importance, but in America its often taken for granted. People don't realize that freedom is the best gift we could have ever been given at birth, and every citizen of the United States is lucky to have received it. Our constitution lays out a balanced freedom between state government, federal government, and a persons natural rights. This makes it very fair to all parties and peoples of America.
If I had to think of 5 rights that I personally think are the most important it would sound very much like the constitution, and I would have to start with freedom of speech. I think its very important to express his or her beliefs through music, politics, or press. Second would be freedom to assemble. Some governments prevent people from getting together because they fear power in numbers, but in America everyone can get together for pretty much any cause or belief. A widely argued freedom is the right to bear arms, but if you asked me people should be able to protect themselves from people who would illegally have guns if they were banned anyways. One right that isn't in the constitution is that I think people who are 18 years or younger should be able to cross international boarders. Its such a pain now days to go anywhere when your young, even though at this age it would be amazing to be able to travel. I also wish that minors were also allowed to work without being constricted to certain hours/ positions/ and places by child labor laws.
The only freedom I would be able to give up would be the freedom of free education. I really wish America was set up like other countries so that people can learn what they wanna learn through flexible, specialized classes; learning job skills instead of theories and scientific methods.
@Jen I agree with your freedom i think it is important for people to respect that right in modern times like was granted to the people that came over from europe that started this country.
Steven i totally agree with you!
I think the most part of the rights is freedom of speech because if you don't have the freedom of speech, then you have no right to say what you want or say how you feel about things.
One freedom i would be willing to give up would be is the right to peacefully assemble because I do not care to protest about something i disagree on. Like going in the streets with signs is just not my thing.
One freedom should be partnership. I think people should have the right to have a man to man woman to woman relationship. My reasoning is because now in days there are so many people getting married in different states because they dont have the right to get married with the same gender.
Out of all the five freedoms, the one I believe is the most important is the freedom of speech. If you were not able to speak out and express your opinion, well that would just straight up suck. Speaking is essential to human's and general and if we were all controlled on what we could say and even think, then we would be living like the novel 1984.
If two freedoms had to be permanently removed, it would have to be the freedom of press. The majority of the news and tabloids are just infested with garbage. There is no need to be posting lies as headliners on the news. If it were taken away, gossip and trash talk would end and everything would be some what safe. Besides, I would be satisfied with discovering things on my own.
Erm, I would not add anything on to it. For the fact that I can not think at the moment, nothing should be added. It is fine and satisfying just the way it is.
1. Freedom of speech is by far the most important Amendment right. It encompasses the other rights. Without the freedom of speech you don't have the right to voice your religious preference and therefore do not have the complete freedom of religion.
2. If I had to give up one right I would I give up my right to peaceably assemble.
BRANDON ANDREWS
The freedom of religious practice is what i would conceder to be quite important. For the expression of faith is what makes us strong as a people. And if you impede on such a right, you exclude a group of masses, which would make us weaker.
Now it is not easy for me to choose but i must say out of all the five rights that where expressed i would rather loose the freedom of the press. Yes i understand it would be vary mielipalitive of the people but to be quite literal i don't know how i would be able to live not being aloud to speak my mind, not being able to pray to whom ever and how ever i want, not aloud to assemble with those such as i, and not being able to petition would be destructive to our nation.
I feel that the amendment is perfect in form, and should never be subjected to any change. These rights seem to be so brilliant and yet so simple. It is this amendment that has truly built this wonderful nation and continues to lead us in to the future.
I think that out of the 5 freedoms, the most important is the freedom of speech. Quite obviously, if people weren't allowed to speak freely, America would not be what it is today by any means. The things people would feel and say would be completely different if what we were saying was being monitored and limited. I would honestly be willing to give up the freedom of press simply because all of the other five are very important and if the media couldn't report anything and all that they saw, it actually could do some good. I feel that the right to be free of labels should be added, if anything, because everyone has a right to be who they want, and no one has a say nor is superior to anyone else.
The freedom i think is most important is the freedom of speech because it allows us to speak our minds and not get in trouble.
The freedom i would be willing to give up is freedom of religion because it isn't vital to my life also you could practice that on your own.
I wouldn't add a freedom, the freedoms cover everything i need or feel i should have and they covered some that some people don't need so i think it works well for everyone. It is not necessary to ask for more when they basically covered it all.
I think freedom of speech is most useful, other than the obvious reasons of being able to talk about anything you want, it's also brought us the freedom of life that we have today. Being able to walk outside and protest the government by shouting about how much you hate one politician over another is your right and people express that right all the time.
I could definettly live without freedom of religion. Religion has taken a back seat to the world lately, our current economic problems have brought issues to our eyes that haven't been a problem up till now, pushing back what should have been our focuses.
Nothing :p
1. I would say freedom of speech is by far the best freedom. It allows not only me but others to speak freely. it allows lets one person be how he is and not a mindless puppet afraid to say something.
2. I would give up freedom of press because they don't deliver the accurate info anyway. its only what the government wants you to hear.
3. One great freedom we should have is the freedom to be allowed and able to come to another country without having to pay for all the paper work and hassle of trying to just make a better life for yourself.
The freedom of speech is the most important because words are a powerful tool of persuasion. We need to be allowed to rant or speak our opinions freely.
I would be willing to give up freedom of religion because I am not a religious person. Religion has caused too many wars and fighting between common people based on what they believe in.
A freedom that should be added would be the freedom of religion without persecution from others. The Muslim Americans are seen as violent people because of what the extremists are doing, and the gays are shunned by "Righteous" people.
I think the freedom of speech is the most important although people try an censore most everythong and make it politicaly correct, but without it everyone would be dull and probly scared that they will say something wrong and get pentalized for it.
I would give up the right to peacefully assemble, it to me seems like a whole bunch of people crowd around and say what they feel that i dont mind but most ive seen get out of hand and it becomes a fight with the other side.
I would add the right to view everthing uncensored it makes me kinda angry that on a movie on t.v. can say ass but knocks out hole everyone knows what it is.
The most important freedom given to us by the First Amendment is the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. This makes America unique, because save a few other countries, no one else has the ability to complain to the government without consequences.
I would not want to give up a freedom given to me in the First Amendment, but if I had to, I would give up the freedom of press, because the freedom of press piggybacks off of the freedom of speech, just in written form. Loopholes!
I do not think a freedom should be added to the First Amendment, because with more freedom comes more stress on the government, because they have less control over the people. There has to be control over the people to some extent, or we will push an anarchist society... which won't work.
I think that the most important amendment is freedom of speech. Without this no one would be able to talk out and say what they feel or want to change. I think this country would be a totally different place without freedom of speech. One freedom i would be willing to give up is freedom of press, i mean although it is nice to know what is going on right when it happens, it also become a hasle when the press start lying and gossiping. It shouldn't be right to get into peoples life if they don't want you to and thats just what press does, don't get me wrong i'm all for the newspapers and all that but press should just be taken out. I feel that freedom of art could be added so that people could express themselves in a way that no one could belive, i know it might cause vandalizim problems but i think it would be cool to have a world of art.
@ndickinsen i agree with you there are many ways to patition now like over the internet
1) I believe the most important freedom is the freedom of speech because want to be heard by everyone, and not only aloud to say what the government wants you to say. i think this is very important because it is known for everyone that wants to be heard.
2) I would give up the freedom of religion because it would not be any harm to me because i still do not know much about religion so now it would not matter much to me or change anything. i would not even need this amendment. But i am sure some people would disagree with my statement about this amendment.
3)i would not really know what amendment i would want to add. Besides having the right to do homework only if you wanted for extra credit because we already go to school for 6 hours and some of us have jobs and sports and other important things we need to take care of. But i am not sure if this would be considered as an amendment.
1. I think freedom of speech is the most important. It would stink to lose this because if we didn't have it then we wouldn't be able to say what we say now. We probably would be watched very very closely when writing these blogs.
2. The freedom I would give up now is freedom of religion. I don't think it is that big of a deal to have to believe what someone tells me to, because I already do that. My parents tell me to believe in my religion now. From reading about the pilgrims and stuff made me sad because I thought it was horrible but now that I know what it is like I don't think it is that bad and wouldn't care if somebody said that I could only believe in this religion.
3. I think the freedom of having no age limits should be added. There are a ton of stuff that we want the right to do but out parents or the law says no because we are too young. I don't think that is fair at all. Some teenagers are more mature then adults. It isn't fair that they can do things but we can't because we are looked down upon. Sometimes it can seem that adults believe that saying that is like, "children should be seen not heard."
Out of all amendments I would say that Freedom of speech is the best one due to the fact that anyone and all people should have the right to speak what they want. No one should be held not to speak what they think. Imagine if you couldn't use your voice, there would be so many angry people out there.
The amendment that I would take away would be peaceably assemble due to the fact that no one really cares what the people have to say, it's mostly only the governs opinion.
An amendment that i would add would be is, i am not to sure really cause we have a lot already.
I think that freedom of speech is the most important, because if you can't speak up for yourself, who will?
If I had to get rid of one I would get rid of the freedom of press, because we can just speak up for ourselves.
I think another freedom that should be added is the right to justify a criminal situation if your doing it for the right reason. Ex. Your mother is dieing, you need to steal her medicine or she will die, if you get caught for this you should be able to get in less trouble because it's justified to save a life.
iyurgayev... i agree with him when he said that we should be allowed to have the freedom to come to this state without all of the hassle. Many people probably feel that it will help with the people coming to America, but all it really does is cause more stress an more chaos.
1. The most important freedom for me is the freedom of speech, because it gives you a right to say whatever is on your mind & to whomever you'd like. I know there are some countries that don't have freedom of speech & I can't imagine not being able to speak what's on your mind because someone says you can't.
2. I'd be willing to give up freedom of press, because the media sometimes twists things around & ruins people's reputations. They really have no say in other people's lives & I think they should leave everyone alone. I mean, I know it's their job or whatever, but it gets real annoying; especially with celebrities.
3. The freedom of marriage should be added. Those who want to marry the same sex or opposite sex should be able to do so. Love is love no matter what race, skin color, or gender.
I think freedom of speech is a great freedom to have because it makes life better. Without this freedom life would just be weird.
I would be willing to give up my freedom to petition because i the government is just trying to do us good i guess. That's why we don't need that freedom.
A freedom that should be added is the freedom to leave the state even if your probation officer says you can't leave the state.
ndickenson- I agree. I love the idea of freedom of speech. Then what you said about finding other ways to protest is really good. I 6579876786808 times agree with you. :)
nicki coman ! , i think that freedom of religon is important because it gives us a good understanding on how others think and pray. I respect that it isnt important on your life but i deffinaly think it is important.
I disagree with what Sean said, yes, you might not be able to ignore a group of people, but without freedom of speech, what would all of the peaciblely assembled people shout? "I <3 Government"?
@ everyone who wants to add the right of freedom of partnership, (the ability to marry anyone you want to, anywhere you want to) I do not believe that the freedom of partnership is necessary. I am NOT a homophobic, but I am a firm believer that a man should be with a woman, and same-sex couples are something I'm not down with. Just saying.
@ josh pehota
i completely agree with the freedom you want to add it just makes since to me 100% good job kid.
I think the 1st amendment is the most important. Not many countries let you have freedom of speech, religion, freedom of the press & so on.
I'd be willing to give up my freedom to peacefully assemble because lately there's no peace so it wouldn't make a difference.
If we could add a freedom it would be the freedom to be in this country legally if you don't have any criminal records & don't cause trouble. Some people come to this country to find a better future but how can they accomplish them if they have the fear of being deported & separated from their families? I think the people that are really hard workers & want something better should be able to stay in this country without it being a crime.
@ AnnaM:
I agree with you about the age limit should be added.
It's not right at all for adults to look down on us younger one's. We should all be treated the same, whether younger or older than each other.
I think the freedom of speech is most important. Without us being able to say what we think is right America would be a lot different in todays world.
If I had to give up one right it would be neither of them cause they all are important. These rights were made for a reason and I wouldn't want to give up any of my rights.
I can't think of any other right to add.
sotchkiss, i agree with you about giving up the freedom of religion because i am the same way. and i say im christan, and i am but i dont really know much about it so i dont think i would be affected.
Brianna Wolfe- even though i didn't choose to get rid of the freedom to peacefully assemble, i agree that certain freedom is also not as important to me as freedom of speech is. As long as we have freedom of speech i don't find it very necessary to stand in groups of people and protest since we should be able to do it anyways since freedom of speech covers it.
I think that freedom of speech is most important. Freedom of speech allows everyone to speak their mind. Freedom of speech goes along with other parts of the amendment, so without freedom of speech other parts of the amendment wouldn't work.
If i had to give up one of the freedoms i would give up freedom to petition the government. I chose this because even though people are free to petition, i think that most of the time the government wouldn't listen anyway. And I think that peaceful assemblies would be just as effective as a petition.
I think that the amendments are fine the way they are. I cant think of anything to add right now. The amendments already good for me just the way they are.
Caitlin- I agree with you about the media and their mindless dribble they publish. All of those women's magazines are 90% false and they need to write something that will sell. So and so cheated on so and so, or so and so went to rehabilitation for possession of drugs. The worst part is that the American public eats it up and funds this nonsense.
Sean Mcspadden, I totally agree with you about freedom to assemble being pretty obvious and hard to ignore especially if its in front of a specific establishment. i didn't really understand which one you want to give up' but then i agree about redressing the right to petition not many talk about which to me means not a lot of people know about it. i totally hear you hear you about voting a new government, we need the power to do that because the president doesn't even have that type of power.
The 5 important freedoms to me are the freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, the right to bear arms, and that no soldier can be quartered inside a house unless with the consent of the owner (amendment 3).
I would say the freedoms I would give up which are bout 3 are the right to assemble peaceably well sort of like if the president was sending innocent people to be executed without a fair trial, the other one would be the freedom of speach in a way it is good but people need to stick with the truth about someone and not say whatever they darn well want to say about someone.
The freedom I think should be added would be the freedom to do something without being persecuted/discrimanating or made fun of those that did something like reading a book for I have both been called a quir for for reading and yes I have been called that sometimes even today.
Ethan,
If you give freedom of religion, you give up the right not to be religious. In fact, say I was the head of government...I say all must be worship Mothers!!! And because the first amendment right has no freedom of religion you must do what I say.
@ Csayegh Yeah I actually should have put freedom of religon, because I dont really believe in religon, I think it is tricks from the government to try to make us conform to their beliefs, like the right way to live you life I.E. the 10 commandments. It's all unforgivable things that we don't want to do to each other, but how else to stop it, then to give us the ultimate consequence? eternal damnation, it's the ultimate price to pay for your sins, trust me the bible is lies.
1. I think freedom of speech is a good amendment to keep. the reason being is that people can say what they want freely also if we didn't have the freedom of speech then no one would be able to speech their mind about anything. 2. I would be wiling to give up the freedom of petition because i think there are more ways to say no to different laws. you could write a letter try to go and talk to the person that wrote the law. I know that all the things i just wrote will take forever or maybe not even be possibly but it worth a try, rather going and yelling and bring posters and making a big riot about it!! 3. I really don't know what law i would add because i think for the most part the constituion has everything that people need to know.

hey Caitlin I actually somewhat I agree with you even though I am a mormon I still agree I mean they should just have their own lives and not be seperated even though I think it is weird for men to merry men I see your point
1. I think Freedom of speech is a good one because, it gives me,and other people the right to actually say what ever we want freely with out any one saying anything. Actually having the ability to express our self's just the way we are..and not go by any people..2.I would give up the law of petition of the government because. they come up with laws that are just not necessary for example the Sb1070..why do that?? when people don't come to the united states to do any bad for the people that are already here! simply they just come to work..and the government just makes obnoxious laws..instead of making good laws that would actually help everyone!!...3.One freedom that should be added is Freedom of education for anyone..if there here legally or not..its not fair that just because they dont have those documents they can not continue studying for a good career and live a good life...For example they could of paid more attention to the dream act and passed it but failed..and it just puts a stop in students dreams..
Astrih
I believe that the most important amendment is freedom of speech, with out it we would not be aloud to say how we feel or what we think, nothing would be what we want.
I would be willing to give up religion because if I was told to be a certain religion doesn't mean I have to practice it, nor believe that I am that religion.
I don't think anything should be added because, the amendments are fine the way they are and no changes need to be made.
Freedom is speech is the most important, hands down. If you don't have the freedom to say what you will, what do you have to defend your other rights with? If you let you freedom of speech taken away then you are on a steep, slippery slope down the road to having no rights.
I wouldn't be willing to give up any of my first amendment rights. I think it would be dumb to be "willing" to give up any of your rights. They are all vital to the lifeline of each other.
Freedom of marriage should be added. Why should it be the governments place to decide if two (or more, two is just the general idea), consenting, legal adults want to marry. Gays should be allowed to marry. If you want to marry more than one person go ahead. The reason marriage is decided as is it, is because of "Christian values."
1) i feel that freedom of speech is the most important right. Without this right people could be detained for speaking their opinion to another person. So a ruler could silence a group of people if he does not like what they are saying.
2) I do not feel i could go with out any of these rights. Without these right a government could easily be overthrown and severely corrupt. We could not even elect officials fairly to office.
3)I feel the right to a "truly speedy trial" should be added. When a trial goes to court it could last for years before a verdict is reached. Different severity of crimes should have a set time limit to come up with a fair verdict.
The freedom i think that is most important is freedom of speech. I think that is the most important because it gives you the right to say what you want, when you want. However whatever you say you need to consider the consequences that may follow after it.
I would be willing to give up the freedom of press, because the press is not necessary. I think it just causes more problems. Giving that up would not be that hard, it may be helpful at sometimes but i could do without. I don't think there should be an added freedom. I think that the original amendments are good, and if we add another, it will most likely cause problems with the government, creating argument, and we do not need that. We should just accept the freedoms we have now and live by them peacefully.
the most important freedom is freedom of speech and press because we can say whatever we want with no one will tell us wat to say what so ever.
i would gave up establishment of religion because there would be no religions wars between two group.every would just preatice the same religion.
i really dont know wat to add on. i think its ite the da way it is
1) The first amendment is most important because it states all the freedoms in which Americans have in society. It is a law in which Americans live by. it controls society and gives everyone and equal life in society. Freedom of speech allows americans to freely speak their minds without the scare of being killed by your government. it helps create a society full of thinkers.
2) The one i would be willing to give up is establishment to religion because religion is something not everyone has, you lose freedom of speech, assembly, or press you lose connection to having your own rights and even freedom religion is in your heart not your overall being.
3) Honestly i don't believe anything should be added due to the fact that the constitution and the bill of rights have lasted for over 200 years which makes me believe that nothing should be added because our laws have with stood the problems, the corruption, and also the wars. the American laws are set in stone and i do not think any should be added.
AnnaM, I agree with the religion part, just because someone can tell you what you are, does not mean you are.
1.)The most important of the five freedoms is difficult to choose. But I'd have to go with religion. This is because I do not believe we should be forced to believe in things that we do not believe in.
2.) The freedom I'd be willing to give up is to petition government for a redress of grievances. This is because I trust that the government knows what they're doing. But if they didn't than I would still obey the laws of the land.
3.)The freedom that should be added is the freedom to fly. If everyone flew then time would be saved, there wouldn't be traffic jams and it would be awesome. It would also save energy and natural resources.
I believe the freedom of speech is the most important of the five freedoms because it allows people to express how they feel. Everyone is entitled their own opinion. Without freedom of speech the world would not be as diverse and unique.
Even though every single freedom is important, if i absolutely had to give one up it would be freedom to petition the government for a redress of grievances. The only reason is because this wouldn't effect me directly.
I feel that there are no more freedoms that could be added. For the most part, these five freedoms cover pretty much everything.
@Tyler Smith. I agree with your comment, because i also think that freedom of speech is the most important, you should be able to say what you want. I agree with your added freedom of marriage! If we have freedom of speech freedom of marriage should not be a problem!! I like it :)
1. I concur with the majority that the freedom of speech is the most important of all. Without the freedom of speech, the rest are not relevant. If one doesn't have freedom of speech, how could you have freedom to practice religion, freedom of the press, freedom to petition or assemble peacefully are all null.
2. I'd be willing to give up the freedom to petition the government. I don't think the government really pays much attention to petitions anyway, unless it's a really huge movement. Even then, we're pretty lazy as a people. We also decide who to elect to represent the state and country, so we still have a good deal of choice.
3. I don't think kids should be required to have curfew at night. It's pretty unnecessary, and it really doesn't cut down crime or noise. Most kids break it anyway, so there's no use for it.
1. I think that freedom of speech is the best one because. It gives the people the freedom to speech and hear them on what they have to say with their own opinions.
2. i Would give the right up for my freedom petition to the goverment. Because goverments comes up with good laws that would be the best for some people.
3. I think that their shouldnt be any curffew. Everyone should just come home or go out whereever they want with out a curffew.
i kinda of agree with brittni wolfe because these right we meant to gave us the life we have
@Caleb, I agree with your freedom to fly. It would be awesome.
Chad H- i totally agree, if we didn't have freedom of speech this would turn into a dictatorship, and would no longer be a democracy
diana- i believe what she said about adding anymore would screw it up. I trust that our forefathers pondered these rights for a long time before finalizing them. We dont really "need" any other rights but we can have a desire for others.
To all the people who think they'd be willing to give up freedom of religion: You do realize that means the government can make you do whatever they want? If the government decides to take up a religion that is harmful to other people, or that requires you spin around in circles until you hallucinate, you would be required to do it. It doesn't mean you get to have no religion; quite the opposite.
jorge
i agree with you because every one should hve the freedoom to speech in this country/
TSasso:
Sasso i feel what you are saying about adding the freedom to wear to the constitution is true-fully already in there. It is worded as the freedom of speech or freedom of the press. I know what you are trying to say about school dress codes. It is unconstitutional but no one is willing to fight for this right. One day this rule will go to court and they will have to remove it from the schools.
-you know who
Jen
i agree with youh everyone should have the freedoom to speech.
juan
i agree with you because everyone should have the freedoom to speech.
1) i find freedom of speech and press most important because you should you should be aloud to speak your mind.
2) i could go without the freedom to peaceably assemble because i think freedom of speech is enough to get your problems noticed instead of just having some kind of walk out.
3) i wouldn't add any other freedoms because i can't think of any to add
I would say that freedom of religion is the most important. Well because I wouldn't want to believe in something I didn't. Its a good thing that we have it unlike some other countries. I would give up freedom of assembly. I mean we already have our freedom of speech. We don't need to stand outside with our little posters and wake everyone up. You can do it peacefully. I think that the freedom of not going to school should be added. Just because when I dont feel like going to school, i dont think i should have to go. And it shouldnt count against your grade and stuff.
I think that the the freedom of speech is the most important because, without that we would have no right to say what we believe. Having the freedom of speech kind of gives us the freedom of religion, because if we had no freedom of speech we'd have to freedom of religion. We would have no right to say that we think something different then the bible says which is religious affiliated. I think that having this freedom of speech is extremely huge, it basically gives us the right to be ourselves, to express ourselves through words, arts, writing. I mean without it we really would be walking zombies.
I wouldn't necessarily be willing to give up any freedoms but if I HAD to, I would choose the right to peaceably assemble. You do have your freedom of speech, so this is just saying you can't go there and protest but you can send them mail, and there are other ways to protest. You don't HAVE to go stand outside somewhere and protest.
I really don't know if i would even add a freedom. I feel like if we were to add a freedom it would mess up the system, the freedoms we have been given are fine the way they are. No one should be able to alter, take away, or add one. These freedoms make the U.S.A. what it is, makes us who we are.
jen- i agree with the freedom you think should be added, its not right to discriminate against people because of where their from or who they are.
I feel that the freedom of speech is the most important amendment we have. It gives us the right to say whatever we want and express how we feel to anyone. Although it is kind of tricky because it says we have the freedom of speech, but in the end we have to deal with the consequences.
I would be willing to give up peaceably assembling because they always get out of control and people go overboard. Even though it begins as a settle calm gathering, once opinions get thrown around it usually ends with an unhappy outcome. Also they have the freedom of speech to express their dislikes.
I don't think any more amendments should be added. We are already given so much freedom and adding more would only take way the importance of what we already have.
I
1. i think the most important is freedom of speech because we can say what we want when we don't like something we see and we can be what we are and not be someone else. it makes a really big difference in this continent.
2. i would give up peaceably assemble because there is so many ways to protest in a very calm way unlike others who make violence of it.
3. i would add the freedom of coming into this country without paying hundreds of dollars for just some simple papers that give u permission to do what you can do and can't do to people who come here to work and give their families a better live but if that person just does harm to this country then no.
1) I think the most important amendment is freedom of religion. For the main reason: people are allowed to choose which religion they want to believe whether it be christian to atheist. I'm thankful that there is a freedom of religion so I can believe in what I know is true.
2) I would give up the governments redress of grievances. I feel like the government shouldn't have to repeat themselves. People should just listen carefully and not question the government unless necessary.
3) I would add the freedom to travel where ever you wanted. People are questioned at the borders when they should be trusted. I would love to be able to go where ever i wanted without a pass port....but that probably will never be possible.
1. The freedom of speech is the most important because it lets you express yourself. And nobody can tell you what to think or say. Its all about what you think and what you wanna say.
2. Well i wouldn't want to give up any amendments because their all so great. Then we would be told what to think and say. And that doesn't sound like america. :)
3. I would not add anything. All the amendments are fine as they are. But i would consider if any good law was brought up
1 I beleive that freedom of speech is the most important because it allows everybodys voice to be heard. No matter how big or little you are and not matter if somebody has more athority then you.
2 If i had to choose i would give up the greivences because i believe that its not the most important. even tho it is one of the longest parts i would choose to get rid of that cause we dont really need it
3 I wouldn't add another freedom right now because it would cause more arguing and fighting and it is good as it is right now. And that is why.
@jspainhower
I agree with the fact that people take the freedoms for granted and that having our freedoms is the best thing we could get.
1. I think freedom of speech is the is the best of the five parts of the first Amendment. It's very important for people to to have their own opinion about whatever they want. I think having a voice and a say on everything is important because it helps also to either improve or better the situation because there are more ideas.
2. If I was going to give up one of my freedoms it would probably be the freedom to petition. I think that the government is there mainly to help and wouldn't do something that would hurt the country. I think the government makes laws in the best interest of the people.
3. I don't think I would add anything if I could. We already have the general freedoms we need. We have a pretty fair government and they try hard to do the best for the majority of the people. We have all the freedoms we need to be ourselves and not be controlled too much by the government. I believe I have all the freedoms I need to be successful, happy, and safe:)
1x I believe that the freedom to peacefully assemble is the most important. It gives us the rights as "Americans" to protest anything we wish. And third most it gives us the right to fight the governments corrupt ways.
2x I don't think that i would give up any of my freedoms cause we're losing so many as it is. We pretty much lost the big freedom part where we can't really make any deceisons. Hell if you use your freedom to peaceful protest the crooked cops won't let you they weigh down us common man with they're lies of protecting us?
3x And finally I believe that we need to have freedom to be self governing. So if you don't like the government you can just leave and make your own. But of course that wouldn't work cause everyone would just be like screw this imma join these guys over here with they're freedom and then we'd probably wage war against "America" and "god" would only know what would happen.
@brian-I agree with 100% on your #3. I think it's ridiculous that people have to that to live where they want to.
I think the most important freedom we have, at least in a modern democracy, is the freedom of speech. Without this, we would never be able to live in an equal society with different values and backgrounds. How could we ever explain our thoughts and criticism without rights like this?
2. I think we need all of them even though i can see some negative sides in the freedom to assembly. I do not think we should remove it but as we can se more and more racist parties joins in big towns to show their thoughts we get a bad dilemma. When they have rights to do this, they are breaking several democratic laws.
3. I think we got enough freedoms in our society. What we should do would be to follow them better. The first thing I can think of is the freedom of religion. Is it really okay for everyone in our country to practice any religion they want without being better or worse than somebody else?
I believe that our most important right is freedom of speech. I believe it is the mot important because we should have the right to a voice. We all have opinion and we should get the choose to speak it peacefully.
I would be willing to give up press. I'm willing to give that up the freedom of press because we have freedom of speech and who says you can't write about? I feel that freedom to press could fall under freedom of speech if you swing it the right way.
I think that the freedom to marry whoever you choose of the human race. I believe this because our life is our life and who are we are who are we to say you can't marry someone. If we get the freedom to religion then people should get the right to marry who they please. Man and Man, Women and Women, Man and Woman... Shouldn't make a difference.
Sam N
I think the freedom of speech freedom is the best one because it gives all the people to speak freely and have our own say in things and opinion. It also makes people be them and not just like another person. I think if the government comes up with a law that it will be the best for the people not make the worst for the people.
Steven Espinoza I really like the amendment that you wanna add. People should be able to come to this country and make a life and a living.
Tyler smith;
i agree with adding the freedom of marriage because someone else shouldn't be able to tell you who you marry or how many wives or husbands you should have.
i disagree with steven because unless you are a citizen you should not be able to come here unless you have papers or you are trying to be a citizen.
For me, the freedom of speech is the most important freedom. You should be able to say your own opinion without being scared by someone. It's important to share your opinion with the world. Everybody wants to be free and freedom starts with the right to say what's on your mind. It's also the most important freedom for me because the freedom of speech doesn't only allows you to say everything you want, it also makes you independent. In the early years, you had to follow the rules of kings or other mighty people. If you said something wrong about the government, you got into jail or killed. That shouldn't be anymore. I know the freedom of speech is not available in every country in the world, but i think in a big country like the United States, with so many different opinions, it is the most important freedom.
For me, every freedom is important, you can't give up any of them. They all build one on another and if you would giving up one of them, the whole idea would be destroyed. I would not give up any of those. They are all important to build a country of freedom. Especially the United States... There are so many different cultures and races. You couldn't give any of them up either. You can't rule over so many people. That is unrealistic!
I think the freedom for workers to live in a country would be a good idea. A lot of people travel to different country's to start a new and better life, but the government wouldn't let them. If you see a man from the middle;east for example, he has much more problems to get an american citizen than a German. If he has a job, he should be able to live in the USA, and he shouldn't do all the paper stuff. In my opinion, people should be able to live where they want without any prejudice and problems.
Steven Espinoza- i agree on you with people coming in here without paying for papers in order to work as long they help this country out
1. I would have to say the right of the people peaceably to assemble. I think it is the most important because it allows people to boycott against something they do not like. The freedom also allows people to form groups peacefully.
2. I would have to give up freedom of religion. There are many religions I would not want to practice but I believe the other freedoms are much more important than this one. I couldn't imagine the country without a the other freedoms.
3. I feel like there are plenty of freedoms. There is not much else you could add to the first amendment. If there was another freedom added it would not be very important.
@Steven Espinoza
I agree with your one and three. When it comes to you number two I do not agree. I believe that if we give the government to much power then we will be stuck with a bunch of laws that we don't agree wit and there will be very little we can do.Sure they might not make things worse but they could also do damage.
Samantha Nielsen
1. I think the freedom of speech is the most important. Though, I believe that they all are extremely important and it is hard to choose.
2. I would not give up any freedoms willingly but if I had to give of a freedom it would be petition to redress. I would not like giving it up but I would because I do not hear much about it and I don't think I will use it A LOT in my lifetime.
3. I cannot think one a freedom that should be added. I think the freedoms are fine they way they are.
1.In my opinion i think the most important freedom is freedom of speech. There are always protest over laws that are unfair for the people. Freedom of speech is important to me is because it's important for us to express what we feel.
2.I wouldn't be able to give one up because all of these are important.
3.I think there should be a freedom of not getting deported from this country. There are many immigrants from different countries other than Mexico. How come people from Japan, philippines and other places aren't being accused of being an "criminal" for coming to this country. Ignorant people need to realize that people come to this country for opportunities not to become a criminal. Those who come here to make crimes should be in jail and deported to their country.
1. I believe that that the most important amendment is is freedom of speech for a couple of reasons. the first reason is because without freedom of speech we would have less opinions and less ideas. i also believe that it would start riots across the country and the economy could get even worse.
2. My two freedoms i could give up freedom to petition the government for a redress of grievances and freedom of peaceably assemble. I don't really have any problems big enough to sent to the government and I'm never mad enough to go on a protest so those two amendments don't really matter as much
3. if I were to put in an amendment it would be freedom of curfew so I could stay how ever long I want. People already stay out as long as they want I shouldn't mater. If anything it should be up to the parents for how long you can stay out
I think that the most important freedom that we have in this country is the freedom of speech. People should be able to speak their minds and express their opinions freely, without being penalized for it. The freedom that i would be willing to give up is "right of the people peaceably to assemble". We can always write our congressmen, and give them an idea of something we want changed, we don't have to protest the white house to get what we want; The government is always open for suggestions. If i were to add a freedom, i would add the freedom of gays to get married, because it doesn't matter what orientation you are, if 2 people are in love, they should be able to get married and suffer like everyone else.
1. I think the most important freedom i would think is the freedom of speech. Since everyone has a opinion on something and there own ideas so the freedom of speech would give them that freedom to say that belief.
2.I guess it would be freedom of press since i don't even pay attention to the press and sometimes what the press says isn't always true
3. I can't think of any freedom to add to that.
1. The freedom that i think is more important out of the five is the freedom of speech. We as a people should be able to express our opinions without being punished.
2. I wouldn't be willing to give up any of the freedoms. All of these freedoms are important and without them our country wouldnt be as great as it is today. these freedoms are what our country was built on and no person should be able to take them away.
3. There arent any freedoms i feel should be added to the original freedoms because the amendments are fine just the way they are. they cover all aspects of a persons life and there is no reason to change it.
i agree with steven, the freedom of speech is the most important freedom of all because it allows everyone to put out their own opinions, especially because everyone in this country has a different voice. And being allowed to say what you want when you want without being punished for it, is a great freedom to have.
Also, i would be willing to give up my freedom to petition as well. I would not want to go through everything it would take to petition against the government, besides, i would think for the most part, the law and rules we follow are for our sake.
Finally, i feel as though the 'freedom of orientation' should be added, because homosexuals and heterosexuals have no say in what orientation they are, and 'all men should be treated equal' right? anyone should have the right to be interested in men or women, without being punished for it.
1.I believe that freedom of speech is the most important, with out this amendment we would not be able to speak our minds, speak out if we don't like something our government is doing and this freedom allows us to stand up for what we think without being punished for it.
2.I don't im willing to give up any of them. they all play a big part in all of our lives if it wasn't needed then it wouldn't be there in the first place.
3. the one amendment i would like to add is the the option to choose our core classes, or elimainate one of the core classes (math, English, science and ect..) most of us don't do well in at least one of our classes and would like to option to drop the class if it wasn't a requirement. i think if we were aloud to choose out core classes in high school most students would excel in school
First off i believe that the freedom of speech is the most important one out of them. I think that if we were not free to speak that there would be much more chaos and everyone would be getting in trouble. Also it is good that we have the right to speak what we want cause sometimes we could change thing in the world by our mouths.
The amendment i think that we could do without is the right to petition. We could easily petition with our right to freedom of speech and can easily make an impact on the world with just speaking it out.
i think that they should add the right to not have to take certain subjects in school if we dont want them or need them. For instance geometry or like american history because if that is not going to be involved in our future then why do we need it i think that we should be able to take a class that we need in the future.
I think the most important is the Freedom of Speech because if I weren't able to speak my peace, i would probably start a riot by speaking what I think. Everyone has a voice, and everyone has the right to be heard. Whether its for the government or for the people. Someone can think of something so brilliant, but one person cant think of solving the worlds problems!
I don't think i could give up any of these rights because I couldn't follow the government, and listen to everything they would have to say about society. It would be highly unfair. It was put there for a specific reason, so leave it alone. Lets not change it and have a disturbance in society.
I think the founding fathers who wrote the constitution worded it pretty well on the rights. I don't think I could think of anything to add formally to the constitution.
@ndickinson
Yeah there are other ways to protest but sometimes the most effective way is the assemble at the place and make yourself visable.. And some people can't think of other ways to protest.
1. i think the right of freedom of speech is important to me because i like to say whats on my mind.. if we cant say what or how we feel then y do we have voices .. if no one wuld listen?? if we didnt have freedom of speech thn we wouldnt have any rights at all because somone had to stand up of us and speak how they felt and about wht we need or want. so i think freedom of speech is pretty important.
2.i wouldnt give up any..because they all impact our feature somehow.
3.i cant think of any freedoms to add.
1. freedom or speech, cuz it gives us the right to express ourselves and say what we want to say.
2. i wouldn't give up any of my freedoms, those are my rights and i don't plan on giving any of them up.
3. the freedom to go to school if we want too. some people want to go too school but a lot of other kids really dont want too!
I believe the most important freedom we have in America is the freedom of religion. i have the right to believe whatever i want to be. I believe "believe in what makes you feel strong" because i am not that religious. After all thats the whole reason we started this nation to begin with.
I would give up thee freedom of press, because i do not really watch any t.v. or read the newspaper. so i do not really have nothing to lose. Besides i believe the news i tilted.
i cant really think of anything to add at the moment. Our consituation is pretty solid
I think the freedom of speech is the most important freedom of all. Freedom of speech is the basis of all things, with out our right to speak out loud our thoughts would be controlled. we could not stand up for what we believe in therefor also taking away the freedom of petition.
I would not be able to choose a right to give up. all rights kind of tie into one another so if u get rid of one, you affect another one. every right is unique and special in its own way and give people rights that are well deserved.
i cant think of a freedom that should be added, not off the top of my head. society has a broad span of freedoms and its about all that we need.

steven espinoza had a lot of great points. i agree with his first choice that freedom of speech is the most important one,
@steven espinoza
i strongly agree with #1 and especially #3 but not number two. the government doesnt always know what laws are best for the people. thats why we vote on laws and thats why we have a system of checks and balances.
Freedom of speech is the most important to me because it allows everyone to say whatever you want without being jailed for you believe in. i would give up my freedom of religion because religion in history and now is the biggest issue because everyone believes in so many different things that it is hard to pick and which is right for your life and not joining it just because of the majority. the one freedom that i think that should be added is the freedom of making your own decisions at 16 instead of 18 because we're preparing to become an adult and some parents are always making your own decisions so how will we make our own decisions if we don't know which one is right or wrong for our lives?
Amanda if you started a riot, it would crumble like a cookie, but i do believe freedom of speech is just as important religion
1. I think that the most important freedom we have out of the five would be Freedom of speech. The reason I believe this is because every person should be able to have an open mind without getting yelled at for what they say. The one thing though is that people can still judge what you say and they can state their own opinion, but they can not say that you are not allowed to say it... which is cool.
2. A freedom that I would be okay with giving up would have to be Freedom of the press. I think this basically because I don't think the majority of people would care if the government controlled the press except for the writers involved with the newspaper, etc. I don't think that the Freedom of the press is an extremely necessary freedom.
3. I feel that there should be the Freedom of living in the United States. I'm not saying that everyone can enter the United States, but I think that if you do not have a criminal record or something like that, then you should be able to freely be in the United States without having to dea with paperwork, acception, etc.
I believe the most important law of freedom is the freedom of speech because we have the right to say whatever we want.
The one im willing to give up is the freedom of print because those gossip magazines are bad and stupid.
i dont want to add any more freedoms because i cant think of any right now.
I believe that the freedom of religion and the right to exercise it is the most important right. This is because America came about from men and women trying to seek out religious freedom. All the different religions in the United States are what defines us because we are just one big melting pot of ethnicity.
I don't think I'd be willing to give up any of my rights. It is one of the glories of being American to be able to have the freedom of speech, the right to religious freedom, and to go on strike. Why would I ever want to decide to give up just one? I rather keep all of my rights not just some of them.
I don't believe that any right should be added to the First Amendment. Our fore fathers did such a great job of making up the rights we have now and they have remind the same for this long. If a document has lasted this long in history then someone must have done something right and nothing has been added to the rights so far so why change that now?
1. Freedom of speech seems to be the most important of them all. It's important to me because we have the right to have our own opinions on whatever want. Also people can't tell us what or what not to say thats also very important.
2. I would give up the right to petition the government. The new laws that the government makes may not be appropiate or is disliked by the citizens. Therefore we don't need a new law that we don't find fair.
3. One that should be added is the right of coming to the country without any problem. For instance illegals who wish to come in and search for jobs and better lives for their families to have a good future. Although there could still be a search just in case if people try to smuggle things.
1. I believe that the freedom of speech is the best right we have because we are able to speak whats on our mind without repercussions from the authorities.
2. I couldn't go without any of these freedoms, because it gives us the most freedom than any where in the world. The one place you can mostly be your self.
3. I think that there aren't any freedoms I would add because I cant think of any. So I believe that these rights are enough.
Spencer Katoa I agree with you on the right to Religious Practice. Faith is what makes us strong. I agree with you on that statement!! (:
HAving a say in what you beleive in and being able to speak your mind without worrying about being decapitated, is pretty nice. As Americans, our freedom is everything and freedom of speech is the most important to me.
I would never give up my freedoms for any cause. I was born in a country with the privilege of these rights and i will not give them up. For anything because they belong to me.
There should be freedom to smoke weed at age 21. Alcohol is a poison and we are allowed to consume it. Same rules should apply, no driving while intoxicated, be of age, be responsible(yeah right).
I think that the freedom of speech is the most important freedom we have. It says basically that we can say what we want, were we want. Most countries around the world dont even get that privilge. We are very fortunate to be able to speak our minds with out getting in trouble. If i could give up a freedom out of all of the rights we have is freedom of the press. For the reason of manipulation using the press and breaking others down to bring others or themselves up. Or the possibilty of spreading untrue rumors or secret and personal information on individuals that they do not want to give out. Out of all the rights we already have i dont think we need to add any other rights of freedom.
I like that Steven chose the same Freedom to add as i did. Me and him both think that people can come into the United States with out paperwork. The one thing I included that he didn't was that I think they should be able to enter as long as the DON'T have a criminal record .
@steven espinoza
i agree that freedom of speech is the most important, u have a good point bout it making people different. you made a really great point on how the government makes laws that are in the best of the citizens. why should we have to fight that?
Zach Riozz i agree with you about that whole Freedom of religion stuff .
Steven Espinoza:
i agree with you on 1 and 2. Although number 3 i somewhat agree on. yess i believe that you should be able to live here and be free as long as you work. but i think that "paying" to live here helps keep the government informed on who is here. im not saying is right or wrong that we make everyone pay but i do think we have taken it way to serious lately.
Out of the five freedoms, i think the one that is the most important is the freedom of speech. This is because, I think everyone should have the right to be entitled to their own opinion. If freedom of speech were not allowed, no one would be able to stand up for what they believe in, and to m, that is wrong. The freedom that i would be willing to give up would be, the freedom of the press. This isn't because i think its wrong, its just because i think the other ones are extremely important and i would not want to give one of the other ones up. I really don't know what freedom should be added, or if one even should. I haven't thought about it enough to even know.
I think the freedom of speech is the most important. I think it that it is because even though speaking out can be harmful, depending on what you say, it is a right that we all should have. Being able to speak what we feel, to me, is very important, we all need to be able to say what we feel, and if we didnt , what would this world be? To me, awful, speaking what we feel and saying what needs to be said is important. Like the saying, the truth hurts, well, if we can't say what we want, i guess that saying could go right out the window. My main point of this is that we should all be allowed to speak freely, and not be punished for what is said. Freedom of speech is one of the very large rights that our country lives by and if that were gone, we wouldn't be a good country.
I honestly wouldn't be able to give up any of my rights. It would be like giving up, that's what it would feel like to me. And giving up is never an option. These freedoms were given to us for a reason and I plan on using them to their full extent. I am not going to give up and I would try with all my might to keep those rights standing if I had to, I would die for them, just like so many people have already.
I am not sure, we have been given many rights, but they have been and can be taken away. Maybe our right to be able to fight back(in self-defense) and not be charged for something that you were trying to stay away from, but were pulled into it anyway. People have been stuck into a fight or even witnessed or tried to stop a fight and they have all been punished for it. Self-Defense is called that for a reason, but no one cares, you fought, you are in trouble. Of course fighting is not the answer but it happens and it's not as easy to get out of it as people say.

I totally agree with Steven Espinoza because you made sense to all the things you have had opinions on especially for the one you would want to add. Because everyone has the right to live anywhere without being worried about getting kicked out.
I think that freedom of speech is the most important amendment. I think this because everyone should be able to say what they want. If no one could, no one would be happy.
First of all, i don't think i could give up ANY rights because I would like all of my freedom. I would probably give up the one for the right to petition signs, because its not like I'm ever going to do that anyway. Plus, i don't plan on going on a petition.
I think that the right that should be added is the right to drink at age 18. I think that people who are 18 could be responsible. Except when they choose to be dumb and drive.
1) I believe that the Freedom of speech is the most important because it gives each American to speak their mind about pretty much what ever they want, it gives then the power to be unique, free and independent as an individual.
2) Each of then have there importance but the one i would most likely not mind giving up would probably be the Freedom to petition the government because the way i see it is that if the government may make a law that isn't fair to many people but has had to be made for a reason, therefore they were only making the law for good intentions to better the people.
3) To be honest i have no idea what other freedom i would add because all of them have been said and notified.
The one amendment I like the most is freedom of religion. The reason for this is because people do not like every religion and a lot of people are not even religous. A ton of wars have started just because of religion.
I do not think I could live without any of my ammendments. I do not want the government running my life as is but the ammendments we have let us be somewhat free.
I think we should have the freedom of government. I think we should at least try a new way of government every so often. If one type didn't work then we can make sure we never do that again.
My first amendment rights are most important out of all 27 of the other amendments. I think that freedom of speech is the moat important freedom. Without freedom of speech no one would be aloud to say what they want to say. Every political speaker or otherwise would be controlled by the government. I would give up freedom to petition, because I am not going to petition. I would add the freedom of education. learning how you want to learn.
awhite
I completely agree with you saying that giving us anymore rights would be one to many. We have the perfect amount of rights already.
i disagree with steven on the immigration papers. we should always have papers no matter what because if we don't, then we could be deported back and also we wouldn't be paying taxes just like everyone else is. it is completely necessary. that's why it's such a big problem about the immigration bill, because of one person said it's racist. its not racist at all, all we're trying to do is protect americans who are living here. its all for security reasons.
I agree with Sean. The freedom of government sounds like a good idea. Since we have had our same type of government over and over, it could be a good change. It could also be bad though. But it could also the best thing we have ever done for our country.

I aggre with you comment, good writing
I completely agree with Caitlin, with everything she said. Freedom of religion is incredibly important and is a main factor of how our country has grown and they are safe here with this right. She gave up the right of press, i agree with her, i feel bad for those celebrities' lives that are ruined because of the press. And the right of partnership, definitely. Free country, right? Why can't Gays be allowed the same rights as us? It's not right and i believe that it should be a right. So many people have to hide because of it. It's sad.
Steven E.
I understand what you mean when you say that you could live without the freedom to petition the government, but without that right to petition the government could become a dictatorship by making a law that is obviously wrong and we wouldn't be able to do any thing to stop it without the freedom to petition.
1) The most important freedom is freedom of speech. Without it this country would not be what it is today. It gives everyone a chance to express themselves and give their opinions freely.
2) I would have to say freedom of petition because no matter what, the government is going to do what they think is best for the country.
3) I really don't know what other freedoms this country should have, we pretty much have all the freedom we need to make the majority of the country happy and content with what their aloud to do.
@Chad H
i really like what you had to say. Freedom of speech is the most important to me also. And i really liked how you were different and didn't answer to what freedom you'd give up. Instead, you were straight up and said you would not give up any, i like that :) And i didn't know what freedom to add, however, you just didn't think we should add anymore. That's cool that you stated how you felt. And I am glad you like our bill of rights :)
i think the freedom of speech is the most important of all. i say this because everyone deserves the right to have their own opinion and speak their mind about something.
i would give up the freedom of religion because everyone should have the same religion when it comes to god, we are all one, and with the continuation of strife and controversy over the countries over religion is just plain frustrating, cant we all become one?
i guess peace will never come to the world if there's more than one religion.
a freedom i think should be added would be the freedom of actually being free
no more drafting, no more war, no more strife, just plain and simple peace
@ at everyone who said that they dont want to give any rights up.
I agree with all of you about it even though i did picked the freedom of press. We were given all these rights to begin with and have been kept for many years and should not be willing to be easily gave up.
I think having the freedom of speech is the most important because it allows me and other americans to say what we believe in. It also allows others to disagree with each other.
I would not be willing to give up any of my rights because I might not use some now but in the future I will have a voice and with the rights in the first amendment I can let people know where I stand. I might not be religious but I don't want to be told what to believe in.
I don't think we need anymore rights. We have the basics covered so adding more would just be unnecessary details.
Steven Espinoza- Its obvious that i definitely agree with you because our posts are almost exactly alike. We both agree that freedom of speech is the most important and that petition to the government is not as important to us because we know that what ever decision the government makes is only made to better us and thats why there is no need for us to petition on anything.
My thought on one of the five freedoms I would agree or think is most important: is the freedom of religion. Cause to me religion give hope, happiness, and faith in the people of that religion. When you think about it, yes, some religion sounds unbelievable, but if you see those people and how much they put faith in that religion it is remarkable how much hope is put in religion. For example, my mother is Lutheran/Catholic she will not give up on her religion and has total faith in it. She glows with happiness and hope in loving and believing in her right of her own religion.
The freedom I would be willing to give up is the right to bare arms. Cause today many people end up hurting themselves or others with guns and weapons. I feel guns are too destructive and is too deadly to use; with guns we all can and might go against each other causing mass harm and murder.
I feel the right of a better Government should be added. Cause our Governments have turned corrupt and have gone bad. We do have all our rights and freedom, but now we have a Government that lie and try to control us in fear or just watch us through technology, hacking, or they are concerned to track someone down and watch them when they can. Technology makes our government more corrupt and watchful in stalking mode.
Emperor!! Or skatoa I agree an admire that u put your faith first.
1.- I think that the most important is freedom of speech because everybody has to have the opportunity to express what they think or feel.
2.- I am not willing to give up any of my rights because i think that we have them for some reason.
3.-I do not think we have to keep adding more freedom to this country because if we keep adding more and more freedom to this country everything is going to get out of control.
I aggre with Mrs. Burr because if you dont have freedom of speech you dont have the right to voice your religious preference.
THIS IS TO THE MANY WHO FEEL THE FREEDOM OF RELIGION ISN'T THAT IMPORTANT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ONE.
Umm i'm so sorry to inform you but to believe that there is no higher being or life after death is protected by that vary right. For if the state had control over such things then you would have to conform to the state sponsored faith. So please don't assume you are exempt of this right because you have no specific religion for what ever you believe in is in some what a form of faith. So yes we all benefit from that vary right, religious or non religious.
esusan
I agree with you that freedom of speech is the most important
