I think that the current era (2000 and on) is actually my "favorite" because I feel it is the most superior due to the internet. Although there is an economical disaster at this time (and other world issues), I don't think this negates that the world has been profoundly influenced by the creation of the internet and related technology. As time goes on, technology is advancing further and further at a continually faster rate. This has greatly affected every aspect of the world, including communication, music, education, ease to access of knowledge, etc. I believe the internet (and related technology) is something that should be embraced, as it has indisputably improved the quality of important things in the world (particularly knowledge and accession.)
I believe my favorite time in American HIstory would be when we Americans received independence from Great Britain. It was a great moment of freedom as well as a turning point in our society. This symbolizes the strength in our tenacity.
Another time would be when began to receive equal rights and the freedom to be our own person. If that had not happened, women would still be treated as a subordinate as well as the other races. That in my opinion, is what really makes this country great because being free is (to me) above all. Even though it may be a purely idealistic view, I enjoy it.
My favroite time in history had to be the world war 2 era. The amount of genocide that was committed blows my mind. The holocaust had put a very large target on Germany and Hitler.
I personally think WWII shaped how our world and international trade works today. The battles for land by water was substantial for trade. During that time the trade was very much sought after. Germany had tried taking some of lands in order to control the trade with the other countries.
So, I'd have to say that WWII is my favorite time of our history.
My favorite time period would also be the 1960's for the same reasons. Plenty of things that influenced how we live today that happened then, like how we view others by race and gender. Around this time is when people started to realize that it doesn't matter what race or gender you are.
I also like how the economy was back then. Everything cost so little back then, of course money was more valuable ($10 would be, say, $30-40 now). It just makes things seem easier.
I would have to say that, like Mrs. Burr, my favorite era is the 1960's. I think that this period in American history was the most interesting because of the moral differences between generations, and the conflict it caused. Think of all the movements and laws that came out of this single decade. I think Americans history would have changed greatly, if not for the leaders of this era.
My favorite time in American History is, the Holocaust because even though it was very sad it was very interesting. hearing stories and information about the holocaust really interests me. It was my favorite thing to learn about in history. It is so sad and scary how one race can try to wipe out another race just because they don't like them.
I personally would rather learn about all of americas history because it has made the country i live in today. Both of the World Wars and the civil wars are very interesting because even though it was very hard for the U.S it made us the country we are today
My favorite time in american history would have to be the early 1900's right around 1915-1925 because thats when the ideas began for the first automobile and when it was being mass produced. My fascination with cars began when I was about 6 years old. Since that time, you can ask anyone of my friends or relatives, I could keep going on and on and on about cars and engines and everything that has to do with cars!
Cars today have become way more advanced then what they used to be especially introducing electric cars and hybrids. Some people prefer the older classics such a the 69 camaro or even the 1927 Ford Model T. I myself prefer import cars such a Subaru wrx sti or a Nissan 240sx. Thats just my opinion on a superior car today, some people may have a different one. Anyways back to the topic, cars are one of the greatest things that not only happened to this country, but to most of the world.
If I had to choose my favorite era I would have to choose the 80's. I would choose the 80's because it was time where everyone wanted to have fun and people were treated equally. Also in the eighties computers were starting be used in many households. In the 1980's a women finally stood up and became the first women presidential candidate.
The 80's is also interesting to me because the wreck of the Titanic happened and I love that movie. This question was really hard though, so it's hard for me to answer it because i don't know much about history let alone my favorite era. But if I were to choose then I would definitely say the 80's.
....I think that my favorite era of American History would be the 1970's because that is really when women got their rights and people started to become equal. Civil rights were pushed into concern by the people that protested about the government. Although this era was huge on drugs, people still fought for what they believed in.
....I personally like this era because this was when the automotive business really made an impact. Only because I can relate to the vehicles by owning one. This was also the era were music really became an influence and were Disco became well known.
i would have to say that the era that interests me most would the 1940 because so much happened in that era. the world was was at total crisis, thousands of innocent people died, soldiers faced horrible conditions on the battlefield. so much happened it changed the way we are greatly.
My favorite time in history would probably be the era of the 1920's. i love the flapper dancers, the roaring 20's.
My grandfather was born in the 20's, and although he is no longer alive, he had told me about when he was growing up.
i love the Jazz music from the 20's.
i love Gershwin's music.
In the 20's the holocaust was being started by Aldolf Hitler.
He also published his book "Mein Kampf" at this time.
I am a actress, and my favorite acts, plays and improv are silent movies. i love the over exaggerated films.
One of my favorite icons in History was Fanny Brice.
She was a comedian, a beauty and a strong determined woman in the 20's.
My favorite era of American History is the civil rights movement. Rosa Parks is one of the people who contributed to changing our nation. Who knows where we would be if she had let the white man take her seat on the bus? If she wasn't a part of our American History things could be very different for us. I like this era because it showed that women, even African American women can stand up for what they believe in and what they feel is right.
I think that Martin Luther King Jr also made the civil rights movement my favorite. I think he lead our country well during this time. Also, I believe that his "I Have a Dream" speech was inspirational to many people in America. The civil rights movement is my favorite era mainly because of the people that were included in it and what they did for our country.
My favorite time was the World War II era because it was a big eye opener for the world. It just amazes me how this one man could take over. Well there were actually many men that took over their country. I can say I love learning about dictators. I just find it so unbelievable how they did it. Back to my point, World War II changed America. Women started working, many men went off to war and never returned.
My Great Grandfather was in World War II. He used to tell me about D-Day and how glad he was to make it out alive. He didn't like to share that much of his stories. Also my Grandfathers Brother John was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. Maybe the reason i'm so drawn to World War II is because my family was involved in it and also because the stories i was never told makes me want to know everything there is bout World War II
my favorite time in history was probably the 1940's because it was a very interesting time to learn about. One reason why the 40's was my favorite time of history is because of the holocaust. I find the holocaust a very interesting thing to learn about. I love learning about everything that went on and how everything worked during that time. Even though somethings that we learned about this time were very sad.
My favorite era in American History was during World War II. Specifically the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a horrible time in history, but I have always had an interest in learning about it. Obviously it was a major Genocide in our past, but I enjoy thinking about what if it was different. What if America had stepped in sooner and saved the many lives that were lost. What if Hitler had been arrested and he didn't get to take the "easy way out"(killing himself)?
I have a passion for learning about murderers and their victims and I have a passion to stop it. Genocide is much bigger than homicide, but it still needs to be put to an end. Hitler murdered thousands from behind a curtain. He murdered people because they were different. In my opinion being different is part of what makes the people of America so great. Hitler has impacted American greatly and him and his time are still studied today.
Halo, my name is Marcus and i am from Germany. Im going to write something about the german history. My favorite part in german history is when the two german states BRD & DDR aggregate together in 1990. I was not alive at this moment but i think it is the best part of german history, because after the second world war Germany was disconnected in 2 parts. It was a very bad time for the humans because they were not allowed to go to the other german state, to see their family or friends. In 1990 when both german states aggregate together it was a moment beyond words, because humans could see friends or family again after a very long time.
That's a really good thought Kamil. Because If those thoughts and ideas never came, who knows where we would be in the automotive world! We could still be riding our bike to and from places instead of driving. And from the idea from Ford, Look at our technology today about internal combustion engines. We are so far advanced compared to then!
I think that the 1920 is the best era in history. Since at that time the economics was good and many new revolutionary inventions where made, like the television. And jazz music started to develop. And women started to get more rights in the society, they could vote and they where not stuck to be a housekeeper.
I guess if I had to choose an era It would be World war two. Why you may ask yourself well my great great grandfather was in it. I remember of a story my mom told me where my great great grandpa got shot. The bullet hit him right on the cheek and barely missed his head.
There are others events in history as well that interest me like when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. Some people say that it was fake and that it never really happened.
My favorite era is the late 60's and 70's. The reason being was Woodstock festival, the time of peace signs, and pop culture. It was the time of Martin Luther King fighting for black rights and the time JFK was assassinated. Luna 10 was lunched successfully into space which was a great achievement. Women rights movement was exploding at this time. Feminists would take to the streets protesting, demanding change. LGBT was established at this time and almost came to a close in the late 60s early 70s. The 60s was a big part of our history that influenced the way the world is today.
Music was good in the 60s with artists like The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Johny Cash, and John Lennon. Star Trek was just created. Marilyn Monroe died in this era. If i could live in any era it would definately be the 60s. In this era people changed their views on race and gender. So many movements and laws were established in this single era. Everything didn't cost a fortune like it does today. This era changed the minds of today.
Will I guess my favorite era would be the 70's cause of the 70's show will moving on,the Jonestown massacre lots of suicide and murder, the Red Dye Scare,Neutron bombs weapons of doom ,Nixon's resignation,OPEC rising of oil prices, the Gas crisis, the war in Israel, the War Powers Act passed, and the Vietnam War ended
lets see, my favorite era time in history would probably be WW2, i enjoy talking about it because it catches my attention about war and battles. its interesting how the Japanese would bomb the U.S at pearl harbor, and Cause the Us to get in this war. WW2 was a bad era for people because men and teens would go to war while the women would be working,
Women would be doing jobs that men would be doing, Factory working, construction, welding, the us wanted the women to do there part and help the U.S. win the war.
The most interesting part about the war to me was the bombing of hiroshima and nagasaki. the U.S used 2 atomic bombs named "The little boy' and the 'Fat man' both where really big bombs and did a lot of damage to japan. the death toll was absolutely high, many died from the bomb, many got blind from the flash and a lot died from radiation poisoning.
So, thats why WW2 would probably be my favorite era.
My favorite part of american history is, well not really the "history", but more of the present. i like the day and age we live in because i am one who likes technology and the way the worlds works in that way. One of the things in our day and age that i enjoy most is social networking. i find it so fascinating how someone can type a message on the computer or even better an ipod or cell phone from one state or province and send a simple or more complicated message to another device several thousand miles away in a matter of seconds with the touch of a button. Another thing is calling, it's beyond amazing how your voice can be transfered from your phone to another phone to someone who is that far away. It's so interesting the thought of how that works and how amazing it is that that's even possible.
"Back in the day", technology wasn't around and i can't imagine living in a world without it. Things would be so difficult. Instead of pressing a button to get a hold of a neighbor, friend, or relative you would have to run down the street or drive or sail to some place just to send a simple message or ask a small favor. It's weird to imagine not being able to watch a movie or play a game or text/call someone when you have nothing to do. I like history but i would not like living in it.- sheldon stevens.
My favorite era in American History would probably have to be the 1960's. I picked that time because that was when Martin Luther King... I already did this, and I understand it but it got deleted.
I agree with Jessica Loree that it is scary that someone can just wipe out a whole group of people just because they dont like them. Hitler was a powerful man.
My favorite era of American history is the Revolutionary War. The Declaration of Independence is all ways a good story. A bunch of sweaty man debating about politics and how to set up out government.
My favorite battle was the Battle of Bunker Hill. The solders ran out of ammunition so they used the supplies around them. They used rocks glass etc. That battle showed how willing they were to fight for there country. Thats true patriotism
My favorite era would honestly have to be 2010. I feel this way because i get to grow up and be a teenage in such a era where technology has become so advanced. Everywhere you go someone somewhere is applying technology too their life. Be it a teacher, a student, your grandparents, your mother ect.
Personally I feel like this era that we are living in is very blessed. We did not have to deal with half of the terrible things that people did back when we we're not even born yet. The way that things are for this era is so much easier and much more supplied with things that we need. We have so much that we take for granted and it truly is sad, but no matter how people take the things we're given does not change the fact that we are extremely lucky.
My favorite era would have to be the 2000's era! With all of the new fascinating technology made just within the past 10 years, i can only imagine what will come up in the future..
My favorite American history era is probably when America declared independence. That is my favorite era because we fought for what we believed in and didn't give up.
This is also my favorite because this is when we came up with the great idea to hide and sneak around in war. Not stand in lines and exchange shots. So i fell like we gained some sort of intelligence in warfare.
I have 2 that were my faviorte eras. My first is 1912 - 1918. During this year the world war 1 has happened. A lot of people started moving to different places and finding out what other places of the are like. It also changed how the world is today. The 2nd world war was part of that but WW1 changed what people thought of the world and there people.
My second faviorte is 1930s. This was when people started loosing there jobs more. They also lost houses. People found out how to fin for themselves more. A lot of people wrote books on this and told there story about how they had to work for what they really needed. Money prices were lower than what they are now, but it was still a lot then. There was not a lot of people that were rich in that time. Most people where poor. Rich now is way different from rich in this time.
These were 2 of my faviorte eras.
I would say that my favorite era would be the 1940's.During this time America and our allies were involved in major conflicts such as WW2. Not only were the allies fighting to stop Hitler from taking over Europe but, they were also fighting for the freedom of millions of Jewish people.
Also, during this time the military and scientists invented many weapons and other things. For example the first A-bomb was created and dropped. Sonar for discovering the submarines was created and is now used for the aid in discovering the depths of the ocean floor.
The era of American History that interests me most is probably the sixties because it seems to be the most fun and intriguing era yet. I would have loved to be apart of that time period due to all of the exciting things that took place. Marilyn Monroe, Woodstock, the assassination of JFK, the man on the moon, Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I had a dream" speech took place, The Beatles become big, Cigarette companies started warning people that smoking can be dangerous, and so forth.
So many miraculous things happened in this era that I would have loved to be apart of.
My favorite era would definitely have to be the 60's because of all the music, and how much the country changed. Almost all of the things that happened in the later years stick out more to me. The country was in one of the worst times but it seams like everyone still had fun. My favorite thing about the late 60's would have to be Woodstock, all of the great music would be incredible and i wish i could have been there to see it all. But of course it was a sad time because of the Kennedy assasinaion.
But if i could pick an era that i have the most respect for, it would be the early 1900's because my great grandma was growing up during the depression and has told me a few stories. Some of the things they had to endure would have been hard or nearly impossible for us now adays. Yet they still found a way to make it through. Thats why i have so much respect for the people in that era.
My favorite era in history would probably be like Mrs. Burr said, the 1960's. John F Kennedy was President and it was the era that led into the 1970's and 80's which were the years we hear most about from our parents. But not only did things like Woodstock and the moon landing which, is my favorite thing to learn about in American history occur, but some of my favorite actors and actress come from the 1960's. Such as Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. The 1960's was the start of the classic movies we know and love today such as "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "The Sound of Music." It was the year that started it all for me, seriously though my mom was born in the 60's... but anyways to me its the most interesting and engaging era to learn and study about. The people, events, movie, and all pop culture just makes it the best!
My favorite era would probably have to be the 80's. Great music came from the 80's. Michael Jackson went solo and had Thriller which sold 45 million albums world wide. Whitney Houston discovered the "Greatest Love of All" and Prince sang about "Purple Rain" in his "Little Red Corvette." But lets not forget the timeless movies that came from the 80's.
Molly Ringwald had a few hits like 16 Candles, and Pretty in Pink. Another classic based from a novel is the Color Purple. The 80's was the era of life changing movies and record setting music.. I <3 the 80's.
The era of American history the interests me most is probably around the time of the new deal and world war two. in the 1930s through 1940s. there was a lot of things like Franklin D. Roosevelt and the first hundred days. albert einstein, manhattan project. one of my favorite things was the rise of hitler and the holocaust.
For me, the era that interests me the most would probably be the roaring twenties. From what I've learned in textbooks and movies it seems the 1920's was the start of major change in America.
Did you know the first commercial radio broadcast was sent in 1920? That became one of the stepping stones to our modern technology in ways we communicate with each other.
Even movies changed dramatically in this era, the first movie with sound, "The Jazz Singer" was released in 1927. But all wasn't good and dandy, the stock market crashed in the late 1920's making it seem everything you ever had was lost, sending America into the Great Depression...
My favorite era in American history would be the 1940s, since to me it seems like a large transition in US history and world history as well. The 1940s was a time of great oppression, militarism, and tyranny. Dictatorships were abroad in a world ravaged by a first war. To me this is the first time the United States has ever stepped beyond her borders to represent a free world from the grasp of tyranny and injustice. I have a family that have been largely involved in the US military. I had a grandfather who served as a seargeant in WW2 and family in Hawaii that was affected by Pearl Harbor. I definitely agree with Bob Dylan when he said "the times thy are a' changing..."
The era that fascinates me the most would be World War II. The events in this time were by far the most interesting and the most gruesome. During this era the Holocaust, which was the biggest extermination of Jews took place. I have learned about the Holocaust for many years now, reading many diaries and books.
The events that happened in the Holocaust definitely shaped how the world is/works today....
I think my favorite era of American History would have to be the 1950's because this decade is all about being old school. Also the 1950's were a huge decade of music with Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and all the other rock and rollers. Also what I loved about the 1950's was the cars, I don't no why some other people hate old cars but I like them because there so classic.
My favorite era of american history would have to be the 1920's and 30's. I like learning about organized crime in the us. The power that mobsters had over people is very interesting to me. It was like one big family they took care of their own and they took care of whoever stood in their way.
I love the classic cars they had back in the 1920's and 30's. They were some of the best looking cars. Those cars are what started the lowrider craze in California around the 40's and it spread all around the world.I like the style people had back then.
The 1850's isn't my most favorite era in time but it interests me the most. This time era is when baseball hit New York and shot off into a professional sport. In 1856 some journals started referring to baseball as the "national pastime" Every since then the saying stuck.
I would have loved to live during this time to see a major sport start forming. To see or play in the very first major league would have been a crazy experience.
For me the one of the most importent and favorite era in the one we are in now. Since 2000 there has been so much going on that has impacted the united states. One of thoughs is 9/11 when the planes flew into the twin towers. That changed how america is dealing with the middle east and are airports. Are airport security is much more stricter now even though we did kill the man that is said to be incharge of 9/11 a few months ago. A second major event that has happened was electing are first black president.
My favorite era would have to be the roaring 20's. It was the era where there were flappers and everyone seemed happy. There was a lot of dancing due to the Jazz music. Movies came out with color and sound. The only bad side is that at the end of the era the stock market crashed, which started The Great Depression
I also really love the 80's.
It was a time full of bright colors and retro music. Crazy hair and makeup. I always listened to 80's music when I was growing up.
My favorite era would be the 1940's. This era was not only the time when World War II took place and when our president of the time, Roosevelt, attempted and succeeded in turning around the country from the Great Depression, but it was a great era for music, sports, and movies.
Humphrey Bogart, a famous actor in those old black and white films, established his acting career in the 1940's. I've always loved watching his movies. In terms of sports Joe Dimaggio or "The Yankee Clipper" started playing for the Yankee's which would later get himself placed in the Hall of Fame.
I think that one of the most interesting eras was WWII because theres always something new to learn about it. There were alot of battles and alot to learn from them. its interesting when you see the war from other people's perspective.
learning about the weapon that they use and the places that they fought in will be interesting to learn about. even though it sounds interesting i wouldn't like to live during that time.
It would be the 60's and down til the 30's why I like how in the early 60's Lowriders where barley being invented and the 50's and 40's because that's the era when the Pachuco zoot suited gangsters and I like the 30's because of the fashion that was in the fedora and mobster suits and the gangsters of that time were tight guys like Alcapone and lucky Luciano made prohibition fun for people.
The cars of those 3 eras where the best looking especially cars like the Chevy Impala and the muscle cars back in those days things were made to last a life time.
my favorite era is the 60's because of the hippie movement and of course woodstock. the music in this era is also my favorite because it had sole. im pretty sure i was born about 40 years to early. also the fact that blacks and women still didn't have all the rights they deserve. that seems interesting to think about
my favorite era is the 60's because of the hippie movement and of course woodstock. the music in this era is also my favorite because it had sole. im pretty sure i was born about 40 years to early. also the fact that blacks and women still didn't have all the rights they deserve. that seems interesting to think about
i like the 1980s because it has a lost of famous stuff like music and how fashions were like in that era
My favorite era of of American History is the 50s. The reason is because of the culture. I like vintage and old stuff specifically from the 50s. I liked the the style that they had back then. Also, an awesome highlight for me is the World Cup games. It's also relevant to my family as well. My grandparents on my dad's side, started an Italian deli. Yes, it's still around too but now its ran by one of their sons. But back in the day, they met a lot of the stars from that time period like Frank Sinatra. I also think that the actors and actress were original in their own way as well.
My favorite era is the years of 2000 and up because i like how technology is on the rise. I think it the most interesting in my point of view because of the new computers and gaming systems coming in like the xbox 360 and play station 3. Its a new way to communicate instead of having to travel just to talk you an use your cellphones and gaming systems.
I also like it because this is the time that people at young ages are getting cellphones. In the past people couldn't all afford cellphones and now in the new era people are getting cell phones at young ages. Weird but good are.
Hmmm... American History?
Well first off, we americans did so many good things, and bad things dring WW II.
Lets Start with the good things, well we help Great Britin, we where sending suplies to East Germany after war when the wall was bult.
Then we also did some bad things, we killed so manthey civilians when we drop bombs on the two cities in japan, we should of not let are gard down in perl harber even though we knew the war was going on.
Maby we should think twice be for we do something.
I like American history.Every thing military is awesome. I watch the history channel all the time.Air Force is the coolest branch in the military.
I like all history because history repeats its self. The history i like most though is stuff from the last 100 years.I hope to learn lots this year. The coolest thing is having history in your own family
I think my favorite era would have to be 1970's because the fashion was coming out and it was more of the punk rock era so when you would dress up for an occasion it was normal to dress very colorful and extravagant. Not only was the fashion coming out but the different hair styles that were being experimented on for example The Afro, The "Flicked" hair, The Mullet etc. some of the clothes that were used back then that we use now were Blazers, Dresses, Skirts, Bell Bottom Jeans, and Tie Die Shirts.
My favorite era is 2011 that I'm an exchange student from Thailand and be in this American History class with Mrs. Burr.
I don't know so much about the American history, because I'm an exchange student from Italy, and I'm in this class to learn it. By the way, my favorite era of the history is all the XX century, specially the 60's. That's because you can learn it not only on the history books, but by traveling, by listening to music, by reading some literature books from that era. Your grandparents could teach you some history only by telling you some common days of life.
Alessandro Fusco (1st period) (I don't have a pvlearners yet!!)
I noticed that in a lot of posts, music is mentioned. (posts like: my favorite era are the 60s, because of the music)
I would agree with those only if you consider the music as poetry and as a primary source of information about that era, as a proof of the various movements of the time.. I think that you should not care about who wrote it and how he did it. (we're talking about history)
For Rianna~~
Yes, I agree with you that in the 80's we did evolve a lot with the use of computers. Titanic happened in the early 20th century, and the movie was produced in the 90's, but I understand your point. :)
People were definitely treated a lot better with equality. A lot of "new" foods were introduced too, which also helped with the accepting of different cultures. Thank you :)
