I thought this bill was a really good plan in helping America aquire more jobs for our education system and front line forces and help in the prevention of anymore people loosing their jobs. It probably could of assisted our country into getting out of the bad economy we are in now.
The only thing that bothers me about this bill is the fact that Republicans and Democrats are kind of having this childish battle on who is better. Reading through the articles all I had in mind was are these two political parties just gonna stand there and blame the other side. In my opinion I felt like this bill was much less about the bill but a feuding battle between two immature parties on which one was better.
I hope that our politicians shape up and work more towards what is best for America and not on which political party is more superior to the other.
American Jobs bill is the bill that our current president came up with to help Americans to maintain their jobs. Teachers, firefighters, and police officers will get the most benefit because we all need them to do their jobs in order for us to be educated and be safe.
If I had to solve this issue, I would try to convince republicans by telling them that American citizens are getting poor everyday and how we can not just watch them get poor and lose their jobs.
this bill sounds great to me. why the republicans keep turning it down is beyond me. Obama is actually making an effort to help out our economy and they wont let him. he should split the bill into separate sections. such as one bill for police, one for fire department, and one for teachers.
Republican's action in Senate was really unfair.
I think that this Bill would solve a lot of problems and make the economy going again.
A possible solution to this problem could be found by the medias; they could try to make the republicans explain why they voted against the bill, and if the people open their eyes, for the next presidential election the president would still be Democrat and the democrats would have the majority of the seats in congress and they will be able to make the Bill pass.

i dont understand the bill and i dont like that obama is our president i dont think he knows what he is doing
I do not agree with this bill due to the fact that creating jobs should be private sector instead of government jobs in my opinion. In private sector jobs for you to keep your job your employer has to be making money off you. They can't just pour money onto you until you have enough to work. The jobs bill will increase jobs in the immediate future, but in two years from now they are going to need more money which the government cannot support due to the current state of the American economy. Why should our government work any different? Governments aren't much different from business's now a days. Both have employees and need to make money to stay afloat. The only difference is that the world depends on the US economy so they will not let it fail. I would fix the issue by cutting taxes across the board, this would in turn give every American more money. When you have more money the first thing you due is want to expand your source of income IE your business. Whats left of the money will most likely be spend on a toy or item for pleasure. When they buy this toy or item, someone's business will benefit and have more money themselfs to repeat this process. The more money that circulates in the American economy the more likely people are to spend money to these fun items or toys. Once we get American people feeling safe with spending money again the business's will flourish and grow. I believe that if we want to create more jobs this is the only way that it will work in the long run.
First off.. $443 BILLION DOLLARS???
I can see how this could have atleast an even pay out over a period of time, however this could take years to really have an effect. (I'm talking 10 or more years here).
The fact that President Obama put this idea forth is actually not a horrible idea (honestly, i think its almost brilliant). However, the fact that this change he is promising would not happen immediately like he seems to be throwing it out to do. This will take at least 10-15 years to have a true positive effect on us.
What is that more immediate effect going to be? Another $500 billion on to our credit card to the world.
I truly hope that this $35 billion part of the bill that he proposed to help the educational system and keep our teachers in work. And where he's going to get the money from mainly? the perfect place. The millionaires. Even though it is only a 0.5% tax, if you have $500 million per year, your paying $2.5 million in taxes on top of whatever else you pay.
Should this work? Yes. But I wouldn't promise ANYTHING until it is truly looking promising.
I think this bill is helping our fellow people with their problems. It is also making the president give an effort.
Sure the bill seems like a good idea but I do not really trust Obama to keep his word and actually make this whole thing work. He isn't really good at that sort of thing. What really gets me peeved is how much Democrats and Republicans hate each other. I don't involve myself in politics because everyone is so negative. All I got out of these articles is the continuous bashing of people with different opinions. I find it childish and annoying..
Well I don't really have a true opinion of the Bill, and the Votes outcome didn't really surprise me all that much. I mean both Democrats and Republicans argue on just about every bill thats ever brought forward, I can't really think of any reason the bill should have passed, but at the same time i can't really see a reason as to why it shouldn't have. The only thing I got out of this was that it looks like both sides are opposing each other just because they can.
There doesn't seem to be a fix to this issue on the surface, I'm sure I could think of one but not in the time i have available for the moment. Maybe they could have a huge sleepover and talk about their differences., yeah like that would work as a solution. I can't think a real way to fix this after having as late a night i did, maybe after some tea I could give it a shot. I guess guess guess way to fix the issue is to amend the job bill so it appeal to both sides, but i don't think thats gonna happen.
This bill sounds like a good plan to help the unemployment rate go down instead of up or staying the same because it would be protecting the jobs of many important people. It might have even made the economy better in the process.
I wish the vote would have turned out differently because our nation should value education, which requires hired teachers.
Boosting the tax for the millionaire tier goes against the very foundation of a capitalistic society, that said the rich pay their dues based upon simple percentages; the higher income the individual has the more money he must pay in taxes and that number is a significant sum. Distributing wealth is counter productive to our ever expanding global market of efficiency. The very reason we hold the hold the ground for most advancements is due to our capitalistic society-- multiple sources combined with greed equals an always competing pool of individuals striving to make the bigger and better product and that pertains to everything from medicinal aspects or universities.
What Obama should focus on is the monetary issue, he purposefully decreased the value of the dollar in order to increase trade with foreign nations which failed drastically and left us with a crippled dollar as well as began printing excessively to a none existent backing which again decreases the value of the dollar due to the fact that we're on the "trust standard". That said he should focus on the federal reserve bank which mind you is a privately owned bank that we have to pay interest in order to print OUR money. Just as Kennedy and Lincoln before him proposed, we should transfer the responsibilities of the federal reserve in the U.S treasury resulting in removal of the 3rd party and interest being paid to a private bank.
i think it was a good bill. this will help people to get jobs. This will make more job for people ho don't have a job. they should just pass the law but the republicans don't wan't. They think that it make are economy they just don't wan't to the he risk. i think that they should just pass it. That is all i have to say.
I thought this bill was a really thought out good plan. It would have help America get more jobs for our educators and firefighters, police, ect. The likeliness of this working is very high and probably would of helped getting the U.S get out of this horrific economy were in.
The two political parties are ridiculous for not passing this bill. It would have helped greatly to our society and if I had anyway possible I would pass this bill. Teachers deserve it they teach your children and they have taught you in the past. Why shouldn't they deserve it? Also the front line forces deserve it as well they put there lives out on the line everyday for strangers. Well that's what I think about it.
i thought this bill was a good way to get America going for education and protecting our communities purposes and i think it would help a lot to get our economy ''running on the wheel'' again .
one way i would fix the issue if i was able to would be by doing a presentation involving prices and how the bill can bring us up economic wise
Alright, I am personally insulted... Well not really. This bill has many of up sides to it, such as: more jobs being provided for the public school systems as well as more funding for supplies and what-not; more funding for the public safety (fire deprt. police deprt.) So I can easily see why it was proposed.
BUT, the funding would come from a 0.5% tax increase on the American citizens, as well as an extra taxing on millionaires (which as you know are mainly corporation heads and heavy business owners). Though this isn't necessarily a bad thing, I believe that is why the Senate turned down the bill.
Honestly, I think it should have passed. But hey, I'm just one citizen. What do they care.
I keep thinking that this is a good idea to get the money to pay the teachers, firefighters and in the polices. if the rates were based on how much you earn per year, I believe it would be fairer and probably we would have a social equality and not the opposite. I believe that senators have denied this bill because they are defending their own class.
I believe that the bill is really helpful to our country. more teachers will have jobs and as well as police men and firefighters. It is great how we are putting money into those jobs n places, instead of just taking money away from it. our government is actually starting to use there heads for once.
i like how the democrats and the republicans are actually trying to help. But one thing i don't like is how they act. i just don't understand why we all can't just come to an agreement that will help our economy. i believe that our economy will get stronger the day those 2 parties can actually come to an agreement on something instead of wasting time arguing.
This bill is very useful, it will help a lot the political base of U.S, because it's the most important investment, the republicans are only trying to be against the democrats and show that they're bigger than they are, but it will improve the base of U.S.
I think, the bill is not a bad idea, but do they have the money? I guess not really, because the richer peoples are already overtaxed and now they should pay more, not to mention those which shy away from taxes.
The democrats just try to fix something with making it worse and for the republican it's difficult to prevent that, because the democrats have are the majority everywhere, even the president is democrat. I don't know how that's going to end.
The Jobs Bill was created and proposed to help the American people's jobs and get out economy out of the gutter. This bill was expensive (447 billion dollars) and seemed quite reasonable with planning to tax the rich in order to get money for the bill. The rich have a surplus of money while the rest of the country suffers financially. The first part of the bill was to help the jobs of Teachers, Firefighters, and police officers which are underpaid and getting laid off in substantial numbers. Without these jobs, we could not run our country. This bill seems worth a try.
Yesterday October 20, 2011 , the senate voted on the first part of the bill and it was blocked. Every single republican in the senate voted against it, which i found to be unreasonable since their proposed plan didn't seem to have a definite positive outcome for this problem. I think it was rediculous for every person of that party to vote one way and to not give an individual voice.
I think we should go with Obama's more realistic plan.

I feel that the "bill" is a good idea, but it's bitter-sweet seeing how are economic state is practically down the toilet. Maybe we should cut some loose ends before we try anything that might put us in another depression. I would go more in-depth but if I do, I will go in to a mental overload.
If these two groups of childish politicians put their parties aside for a moment and listened to the president they elected to lead this country then they could probably work something out. All this constant bickering from the both parties will get them NOWHERE!
The bill would be useful for the officers, firemen, and teachers. But what I noticed is that the two parties are yapping at each other again, like they are trying to say who is better. It seems to just be a fight of that at the moment. How much money have we already spent, were digging ourself a ditch. The government needs to focus more on the people and not their childish party battles. This is why I'm not very deep into politics, I just pick up things from my father because he's OBSESSED with them. I rather not spend the rest of my days whining about who's the better party. Can't everyone just get along, geez.

i think the bill was a really good idea to try and get more teachers, firefighters and police so there is more education, safety and more jobs. If this bill was passed it would definitely help our economy and get us out of the rut we are in.
It makes me mad that it wasnt passed because alot of people need jobs and money and it would be a win-win situation, because citizens would get paid and their service would benefit us. if i were to fix it, i would split the bill so that each department could agree and it would get passed faster! - kristina Lindgren
I do not agree with this bill because its to much money getting wasted on firefighters and police officers.
i think this bill is a good idea it would give the people more jobs and it would help improve our economy
The bill basically states that people in the us should keep/get jobs. Last night the bill was denied. I agree with most of the bill that all americans should have jobs. i could help education wise and maybe the economy.
I think that it's a good idea to help with getting more jobs, but i don't think all the jobs we need are just for education. There are many kids in the world that go to school everyday and get their education just fine. Children are learning what they need as it is so I think there should be more important jobs to be worrying about than education.
The country is obviously low on jobs and if their are any jobs that the government should be trying to help it should be more jobs that help the country as a whole. Jobs that aren't just for kids going to school but jobs that are going to help more important things. But I think that the political parties should also be worrying about what's best for the country and not what's best for them.
I think this bill is an awesome idea. It could really help American people keep their jobs and prevent others from losing theirs. I hate that the republicans keep voting against this bill. Stuff like this makes me so angry because the schools and police and firefighters are going without basic things here in America, but we continue to spend billions of dollars fighting and/or helping other countries. The government needs to take care of its own people first before it starts worrying about other countries.
The bill is a good idea and should have gone through. The reason why it didn't go through is the Republican senators are making more than a million a year so the tax raise is coming out of their pocket. They only care about what they earn and not the well fare of the Americans who made it possible for them to get where they are today.
This article pretty much states why I keep out of politics, it doesn't even seem like it matters about the general public anymore. It's all about who is better, Republicans or Democrats. I think the bill is a great idea, it'll get plenty of jobs while keeping plenty of others. The Republicans only seem to be saying no to this just because they don't want to admit it's a good idea, they don't want to give credit to Obama. Like I said, now it only matters about who can look better.
This bill sounds pretty good. Obama tries to help our economy in making an effort but they wont let him. I think separate sections of the bill would work better.
I think that this bill is good because there helping put back government jobs. Though i don't think that its fair to tax people who make a million a year. Thats the only thing i oppose on this bill.
If i could make the bill a little bit better would be to take off the tax increase. I could see that there would be a problem with money if they didn't tax them.
Considering the bad economy and the recession we are in, the bill Obama is trying to pass is every smart and could be very helpful. This means America has an opportunity for more jobs, and a prevention of so many people losing their jobs.
The two parties democrats and the republicans are in a childish argument. I feel like they aren't as concentrated on the bill, and they are more worried about their own parties.
I thought the bill is great, its helping america with more job opportunities and its also helping americas education system with hiring more teachers, and making sure other teachers dont get "Laid off" its basically helping people not to loose their jobs. for some reason i dont know why the republicans are turning it down, i think the democrats are doing the right thing for our nation.
The Police and the fire fighters are getting the most beneficial of this bill. i think its great that they think that the communities cant afford to loose the men and women who protect and serve this country and that they actually appreasuate what they do for us.
I think this plan would have been good because we are losing teachers, firefighters and police officers do to the lack of money. I don,t understand why the republicans keep turning this bill down it sounds like a great idea to me.
i think that this is good, the jobs need to be preserved and. and increasing the taxes for persons with more then a million in salery wont really affect them.
i think that this can straighten up the economy because if more people get jobs the inflation will go down.
This bill was a really good idea to help out America. It would have gave police, fire firefighters and teachers more jobs and keep lay offs from happening. The only reason the bill did not pass is because the republicans want Obama to fail. No matter how good Obama's ideas are they will never pass due to the republicans.
I believe the bill is an amazing idea. Jobs around the country are in dire need. So, if the stable millionaires are taxed then that gives an opportunity for the poor to become stable with jobs. If they taxed the poor as well, then the poor will just get poorer and the economy will become worse. Also, our essential needs like the fire department, police, medical, ect. need to be paid substantially in order to continue serving for the better of the people.
Personally, I think all of congress are a bunch of capitalist pigs. All they care about is pay raises and about the rich getting richer. They continue to tax the poor and leave the rich alone, which is sending our country into turmoil. By, not passing this bill, it really shows how congress doesn't really care about the U.S. and it's problems. Honestly, in my eyes, by denying this bill the congress is basically saying F*** you to the poor.
Why does Obama think that spending more money is gonna help us? I mean im all for supporting our fellow police officers and firemen. Obama has done nothing but put us more in debt. Taxing people more is unfair too because honestly where is our money going?
Im glad the bill was turned down. if Obama is doing it to help his campaign then he might just have a bad campaign cause americans know we are in major debt and know that america cant keep spending money we dont have.
My opinion on this would be that they did not clearly think of this bill. This bill would be able to save our economy to an extent. We need more jobs and many jobs are being removed because of the cost to keep them running. I dont see why the republicans would do that. I think no matter who you are you should be for helping the economy.
Im not sure how I would fix this issue but I would at least try to change their mind on the bill. Obama should have taken a little longer to get the point of the bill across the board. A 57-43 to me showed that they do not care about the middle classmen because the senate is rich and dont need jobs to get money. Its the middle classmen that need the help and the right to vote on it.
We need teachers, firefights, and policemen. Without them America will become uneducated and unprotected. More people will be out of a job. Our economy will be even worse than it already is. We are trying to fix our economy, but people are never going to get a job if the government isn't helping them.
Unfortunately the bill was not passed people will continue to lose their jobs.
If it were up to me I would have voted yes and passed the bill. I don't want to be a police officer, but I do want to work with the law. It scares me to know that if we don't find away to get the economy to a safe place I might not have a job. I think Obama and the presidents that follow him should continue pressing for a bill like the Job Bill. It is going to take time, but we will get more jobs for American citizens and less will those theirs.
This bill is a good plan to help Americans get jobs for the education system and prevent losing their jobs. The economy will improve when we get back on track. Rebublicans and democrates need to be more concerned with the real issues rather than fight about who is better. I don't see why the rebuplicans keep turning it down. Reading the article t sounded like one side blaming the other. We can only hope that our parties work toward trying to improve bills to make America better.
I thought that this bill was an excellent way to decrease the unemployment rate in the U.S. I believe that it would have had a positive impact on our economy. I'm not sure as to why this bill was turned down. Teachers, firefighters, and police officers, in my opinion, are some of the most important jobs in our nation. Their benefits should be important to us.
To fix this issue, I would try to talk to the Republicans about how this would benefit our economy. If the jobs of our nation are benefitting, so are we. We should be concerned about how these jobs are being affected by our economy.
I think that the feuding between the Democrats and Republicans should not have to cost the American people their chance at a job. Maybe this bill isn't so bad, and America needs some change. After all what we have been doing for the past 5 years hasn't exactly returned us to a place of economical growth.
By starting with jobs that have the most impact on our nation we could try to improve the lives of Americans citizen.
I think that this bill is a good start but there definitley has to be some tweaking. 493 BILLION dollars is aloooooot of money. I agree with opening up more jobs and improving our education system but do we really need THAT much money? We have to get it through the Congress's head that we are in debt. Period, end of story. We cant be throwing money around like crazy.
American Jobs bill is the bill to help Americans to maintain their jobs. Teachers, firefighters, and police officers will get the most benefit out of it cause we need them to do their jobs in order for us to be educated and to be safe.
If I was to solve this issue, I would try to talk to the republicans by telling them that citizens are losing their jobs every year and that they have families to feed.
i think this is stupid. i used to be a republican but recently they have been making really stupid decisions.
i mean i dont believe its right to tax only the rich or tax the rich more then the poor... but to not do something just cuz stupid republicans voted no is dumb. this new generation is gonna be full of dumb asses. seriously teaching is becomming such a joke, our kids arent gonna know anyting. teachers need money for stuff to educate us. ....... i hate politics so much...
I think that it is good that he is giving back important jobs. But i think they should have given more jobs beside firefighters and teachers and police officers only because we need lots of jobs. I like how it is giving the jobs to people that need them because they have families.
the bill sounds great to me, i don't understand why the republicans turned it down. this bill is helping people. But honestly i think Obama might flake.
I think that this is an amazing bill. it will help america get more jobs. It helps teachers firefighters and police officers.
this is an ok bill every one keeps saying the republicans are stupid though for not wanting to pass the tax increase with people that make a million but see if you tax them more they can make jobs because they wont make a million anymore so you cant tax the rich more at least thats what i think.
I don't think the government should make so many people work for them how ever i agree with the decision to spend 36 billion on paying workers like the fire fighters police officers and teachers. but they should keep people of the public out of government jobs but i also like the idea they have to create more jobs because this can help the economy and also help get us out of this recession
i still thing obama should be enpeached he hasn't done anything and he's a crappy president.
its a bill that helps the people keep there jobs. i think its a really good idea especially for the united states
I think it really sucks that over a hundred jobs are being lost and that there is very little we can do. Well maybe some people can but lawn working wont do for white people so that's out.- I kid. I love white people and all their weirdness. Any ways I still dont understand how the president thinks he can pull jobs out his butt cuz there are so many people who truly need to support families an house holds and what not wile others are just trying to start out their lives.
I think that this bill is a good plan in helping American people aquire more jobs in our education system and help our front line forces and preventing anymore people loosing their jobs.
Teachers, firefighters, and police officers will get the most benefit out of this because we all need them to do their jobs in order for us to be educated and be safe.
I think that this bill is actually a very well thought out plan on aiding us in attaining more jobs for our education and forces. We need this bill to help us get more help in getting jobs. The economy is becoming so bad that we could use all the help we can get to acquire jobs. The more jobs, the better.
Obama is just trying to help out the people by accessing them with more jobs. He just wants everyone to have an opportunity to a better future. Jobs are so difficult to find that if I had a chance to fix the issue, I would make a bill that says all people must be granted a legal and equal opportunity to finding jobs.
Emma McWilliams
I think the bill is stupid they shouldn't have to give up there hard earned cash so that people can get a job. The job increase would help the unemployment rate but the people that had those jobs already would lose money because to many people would have the same job and we don't have the money to pay them the same that they a getting right now. The bill did not pass.
I thought the bill would go very far in appeasing the middle class P.O.s who are 'taking over' wall street. I know the heaviest thinking economists believe the secret to economic success is a low 'legal' unemployment rate and a whole lot of work hours from all classes. It makes little sense to me that the Senate would oppose such a common sense bill that would take a little more that $5000 dollars out of their $88000 monthly paycheck (8800 for households earning more than 100000 a year!). That ridiculous opposition to a .5%tax increase is just childish and selfish. I would be P.O.ed at Corporate America too if they penny-pinched every proposition for the betterment of our country. America does not represent their people anymore, its every man and woman for themselves. Wow, such a great nation we are, squabbling like little children over the fate of our nation on matters as simple as 'more jobs.'
This jobs bill sounds good. It may helps people to get a job. I t may be raise up the U.S. economy. But the Republicans denies this bill. Because they don't want a 0.5 percent tax increase to pay off the bill.
this bill i hope passes and puts all jobs back on track and i think this is a good bill that will hopefully get teachers in districts back in there job that they enjoy. i think the reason the republicans are turing it down is because they probably just dont care
I think that the more job the better and if people are going to try and prevent that then they don't deserve a job! Obama is only trying to help the economy offering more jobs and more money... and teachers deserve more money because they are the teachers of the people who will one day run our country.
I feel that if this bill is able to help people keep their jobs, and provide for themselves, I'm all for it.
I thought the bill was a good idea. The ideas for new jobs sounded like a good ideas. Aiding state and local governments is what we need with $35 billion jobs would increase and more people could be employed.
I feel like the vote was unfair because it seems like the republicans are against the democrats and dont want to support the bill.
America is in a depression, due to alot of americans losing there jobs. So in order to bring the us out of a depression we need to supply more jobs for those who need them. This bill will help alot of people get jobs, which in turn would help the economy.
The jobs bill is a good start to jump-starting the U.S. economy, but in some ways, it is a repeat of President Obama's previous stimulus plan. That did help create jobs, but now cities and counties must find ways to continue to fund the jobs created from that first stimulus. There is no question that more teachers are needed in the classroom. Our classes are bursting at the seams, and teachers would be better able to help individual students if every seat wasn't taken, sometimes up to 40 per class. No bill that increases the tax on the wealthy is going to pass the Senate. It just won't happen. Why Obama even went that route with his latest bill is difficult to understand. While on the surface, the bill has a lot ideas about ways to jump-start the economy, the president and his advisors need to take into account whether they think the bill will actually pass.
The Thursday vote in the Senate just shows that legislators on both sides of the aisle - Democrats and Republicans - seem more interested in politics than in what's best for the American people. We elected these people to do a job, which is to do what's right for the country, not to get them re-elected or to benefit their own political party.
I would create a special committee among House and Senate members, equally represented by Democrats and Republicans, and have them rework Obama's bill and the points backed by the Republicans and make the focus on federal spending cuts where the money could be used to create new manufacturing jobs. Why not start creating jobs that benefit new plants right here in our own country.
I think that the Jobs Bill was a good idea in order to create more jobs for teachers and first responders. These professions are so important for our society, and they deserve to have money devoted to them. I can understand why people (especially millionaires) would be upset with this bill, for they are the ones being taxed. In the current state of our economy, however, I think that it is partially the duty of the higher class to step in and help get the middle class back on track. A .5% tax increase is not an incredibly large increase either. If that's what's needed in order to help the job crisis, then I believe that it is a good idea.
I think that the vote on the Jobs Bill should have made the bill pass. I think that we need all of the teachers and first responders that we can get, even if it means sacrificing some. This bill would have put 400,000 workers back into these areas which would have decreased the unemployment rate. After reading the article, I got the impression that the parties are more worried about the re-election rather than the current issues at hand. It seems ridiculous to me that the two parties are too busy arguing with one another instead of coming up with solutions. If I were in charge, I would still try and tax the millionaires but would start with a lower tax amount than proposed and gradually work the amount up.
