Picture number 47. The picture I chose is called "Left At The Altar" and I chose this picture because it shows the sadness and distress of a woman whose boyfriend left her a few days before the wedding. They have been together for four years so it must of torn her apart. Her wanting to commit suicide obviously shows her dedication to a man she loved.

Picture number 86 is about a dog who refused to leave his dead owner's coffin. The owner was Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson who died from a grenade explosion.
I chose this picture because it is sad that the dog does not want to leave the owner's coffin. Showing dog's mourning towards his owner.
I also own a dog and he is very well trained and friendly to me and my family. I think dogs that are loyal to the owners are just amazing.

Anonymous said...

#86 is about a black lab not wanting to leave his owner that he loves and he will lay there until he dies :( the guy Jon Tumison died from a grenade

Picture number 58 is of a darth vader blimp.
I chose this picture because I like the Star Wars movies. They're really good, and I enjoy them a lot. It shows a happy point in the year, despite everything bad that happened.

I choose the picture with the conjoined twins. This impacted me the most because it's so sad to see these girls joined at the head. They can never be separated because they share a brain, yet they seem so happy. The girls don't seem to mind that they are conjoined, they're just content. They're condition is rare, but sad. It amazes me that the children can still lie even though they will be conjoined at the head for life.

Picture 86: I love the loyalty a dog has just as the dog in the photo does to his deceased owner. The dog lays there and refuses to leave which is sad but also so amazing. How animals react truly blows my mind. It reminds me of how my animals are when I come to visit because they never forget me. Dogs are amazing creatures!

Picture number 73 stood out the most to me. It is called "Mexico's Escalating Violence". This picture showed a dead body that the Mexican drug cartel had beheaded, hogtied, and murdered; hanging the body from a bridge. This picture was extremely graphic and sad. I picked this picture because it spoke the most to me about human hatred, and killing someone father, son, or husband, shouldn't be a part of life.

Picture number 105 of Picture of the Year depicts a gay couple recently married and now celebrating with their daughters. On July 24th, John Feinblatt and Johnathan Mintz, finally were able to legalize their marriage in New York state. I personally thought this picture was sweet because the couple looks very happy and seem like loving parents as well. I'm glad that America is in the process of making gay marriage legal in all the states because it allows couple like John and Johnathan to finally be joined in marriage.

The picture Mourning The Master hit me the hardest because a dogs loyalty to his master is unquestionable and even after death. Its a really deep meaning almost like an innocent child that is lost in the emptiness of the loss of his father. The dog brings out these emotions.

The picture #35 shows the handshaking between the US President Barack Obama and the Army Sgt. Leroy Arthur Petry, who lost his hand while saving a lot of other soldiers by throwing back a living granade. Petry received the medal of honor in July 12th 2011.
I found this picture really significant, because it represents the absolute love for a country.

My favorite was the picture named "Hello, Beautiful" where a father returning from the sea greets his newborn baby with a big kiss. His daughter was born while he was away serving his country. It was a moment to remember and special enough to get a picture.

94 is the most cool thing they are seeing a crocodile is jumping out of the water. The crocodile was 18 feet that is cool just jumping out of the water and all the people looking at the crocodile they look so scared. The crocodile was missing his front leg he got into a fight with a shark. I think that the crocodile was cool

Anonymous said...

I'm choosing the crocodile.

I don't any other crocodile has been involved in a hark attack. How could any creature like that rise up from the water? He couldn't possibly lose a front leg. That doesn't sound natural for a crocodile.

My favoret photo is Love Aimd the Riot. Its the most amzing, romantic, sweetest thing ever. Thats somthing a real man would to to a girl not mattering if he knew her or not. He didnt care that the riot was moveing on. he didnt care that somthing was gonna happen to him. All he cared was about was to calm her down and to comfort her. I wish i could do that... haha but its very romantic and im a romntiac kind of guy.

In my opinion the picture of the year is the picture no. 72 "Japan's Nuclear Nightmare". I picked this picture because it shows the terrible events which happened in Japan. It shows also that everybody, even the smallest from us are affected.
This event will affect us the next years age.

The photo in which Obama, Biden and Clinton gaze into the screen in which broadcast the death of Bin Ladin is truly an iconic picture for Americans. Not only does the photograph portray unrelenting vigilance but piercing eyes of justice.

"Hello, Beautiful". A very touching picture of a Navy sailor kissing his six month old daughter for the first time after not being able to see her birth.
This is quite a sweet picture. I could never imagine what that felt like to see his kid for the first time. I picked it because it shows just how long some of these military members are at sea for. Missing anything at home, kids growing up without you. It really is unimaginable.

I like this one because it reminds me of all my Friends an Family serving for our country. I miss my loved ones very much an i cant wait to come home. This picture hits me in the heart the most. Cause so many people come home with PTSD an may not come home at all. An then when you see them after so many years just fills you up with happiness " It fills my Jar with Happiness", So this is my Picture of the Year alone with the one of the Panda stuck in the Tress haha

iPray, this had to be the single most interesting photo i seen on the inter-webs. How i see it is, religion and technology coming together.

Anonymous said...

I my favorite picture was the one with Pope Benedict XVI. I think its cool that even the pope is willing to use new technology. He sent his first tweet "Dear Friends, I just launched News.va. Praised be our Lord Jesus Christ! With my prayers and blessings, Benedictus XVI." This was picture 91.

The picture of the tsunami that hit japan had effected me the most because, it showed how easily nature can devastate a society. This event had made Japan reach out to other countries for help, unifying different countries. Also, it had effected me for the shear fact that this could happen to anyone at any moment, and that is probably the scariest thing.

Anonymous said...

The picture that impacted the most was got it covered. Chris Carpenter for the St. Louis Cardinals could have easily been injured but went for the out anyways. He wanted his team to win so bad he dove into first base while a runner is coming full speed. The Cardinals ended up winning the championship and mainly because they are all team players.

i think http://www.life.com/gallery/67641/image/ugc1391151/2011-pictures-of-the-year.#index/100 is the best picture, a guy with a shirt when its snowing holding an ice cream. its hilarious!

Okay, so I chose the picture with the cop pepper spraying the college students while they were just peacefully sitting there. At first i try and think about those kids, they were exercising their amendment by peacebly assembling, and how even though everything they were doing was legal, they were still punished. Then the next thought that comes to mind is about the cop. Like what posses that man to do that to not only innocent people, but more than half were probably still teenagers. What if that was his own son or daughter? The reason this spoke to me was because even though we have those amendments and we are given the right to use them, sometimes people dont recognize that and go staright to the bad of the situation and do stuff like this cop did and that was, again, pepper spray them in the face for exercising their rights.

There were a lot of different photos that impacted me, but there were two in particular that really caught my attention. One of them was the picture of the little black kid with his shirt lifted up. It was horrible to look at because you could see the poor kids ribs. He is so young and has so much life ahead of him but he probably won't live ling enough because he is not being fed. It is sad to think that there are starving children in another country and I feel like the US doesn't do as much as they can to help those kids and families. Instead of making a 2 million dollar commercial asking to donate money, they should use the money for the commercial to feed them. I just feel bad and I don't have a lot of money but when ever I have the chance to donate I do my best to give some money.
The second picture that I thought was said was the one with the dead soldier in his casket and his dog laying in front of it. It really touched me because it shows that not only can someone dying impact a humans life it can impact an animals and it kills me just as much to see and animal sad than a human. It just shows that people can impact anyone's life and that picture showed that. And it also shows that another innocent person has died in order to help save our country and that is brave.

Anonymous said...

The picture that truly spoke to me was #34. It was a picture of a little baby whose shirt is lifted up and you can see it's ribs. That picture brings new meaning to malnutrition, neglect, and misfortune. No one should have to suffer like that. It is so cruel and it is a shame that nothing has changed, that people are still suffering. Hopefully next year one of the pictures will be of the same baby 100 times healthier.

I choose the PANDA picture ya!!!! In my opinion the panda really spoke to me. Out of all the pictures this one shocked and surprised me the most. Out of all the spots the panda choose to chill on a random branch.

Anonymous said...

Im choosing picture #50 because it proves what our soldiers had to go through on a daily basis and that even we had to fear. It impacted me in a way that I don't see why people would go through the obstacles to harm another human being. It is just inhumane and cruel to attempt to end someone's life when they could have a family waiting for them back at home.
Another picture I would have to pick would have to be the black lab that refuses to leave his dead owner that was killed by a grenade. This picture proves that animals have feelings just like we do and that we don't know what to do when we lose a loved one. I love dogs because they care for you back.

Anonymous said...

I am going to talk about the panda picture.

This photo is a sign of what can go wrong even if your a panda stuck in a tree. The panda looks helpless as people take pictures and dont help it down. I think its funny how a panda would get stuck in a tree when pandas primarily eats bamboo.

Anonymous said...

My favorite was titled "Rocket's Red Glare" It shows a missile fires by Libbian Rebels at gadaffis last stronghold. I am amazed the an entire countr was not afraid to stand up against a tyrant.

Anonymous said...

The picture I chose was the one of the little malnourished boy in Kenya getting medical attention. It's just crazy to think that people in other parts of the world are struggling with hunger when one of our country's biggest concerns is obesity.

Anonymous said...

i choose picture 86. its a black lab not wanting to leave his fallen past owner. The dog is laying right by his casket. the owners name is John Tumison. he was in the navy and ended up getting killed by a grenade. its amazing how dog can be to their owners. how loyal they are.
I own a black lab myself and im sure if i ended up getting killed. she would do the same.

Anonymous said...

The picture that impacted me the most was picture #3. It depicts the tsunami wave crashing over Japan. I picked this picture because it makes you think about the effect of natural disasters and just how devastating they can be. When these disasters do occur, everyone should try to help those who are suffering.

I chose a picture called Hello, Beautiful. It shows an American Sailor returning home and he meets his 6 month old daughter named madison. It reminded me how soldiers miss so much of their life in america. It shows how grateful a soldier is to return home. It is such a beautiful sight to see.

Anonymous said...

PANDA. Pandas are effin bomb :D it reminded me alt of myself, chillin up in a tree, livin life. ha! it made me laugh.

Anonymous said...

Picture #99 shows a hand smashed through a window reaching out. The picture was taken in Suburban Sydney, Australia, of a 52-year-old man who went into a law office with his 10-year-old daughter and said there was bomb in a backpack. After 12-hours, demanded money, the police came and . This is just crazy. This is the sort of thing you hear in books, to see something like this happen somewhere in the world is brain stopping.

i chose this picture because it was a cool picture. the panda almost looks stuck.

i choose "love amid the riots." (picture 9) i choose this picture because i felt like even through all the hate and evil in the world, simply two people could find the love and happiness through all of the madness, and share a romantic moment with each other! it's a really beautiful picture to me, and i think has an inspiring message. Peace, not hate.

Full Moon Fever
i picked this picture because it reminds me of how beautiful our universe can be. it shows how small we are compared to everything else. also no matter whats going on in the world there always breath taking moments like this. i hope one day i can get to see this for myself.

I like picture #76 "I got this" because I never really imagined the president playing ping pong. It made it even funnier when i read that he was playing the prime minister.

Anonymous said...

I chose picture 99 where the Panda is stuck in a tree. The part that struck me most if the fact that he is in the tree. I really don't know he got up there, i don't think a panda could climb a tree that small and I don't think a human put it up there. It's confusing.

Anonymous said...

I chose picture 34 of the little black baby that is sick. I think it is horrible that this could even happen. Its sad cause a lot of waste food and water when this baby is starving.

Picture 87
The American sailor Steven Hart kisses his six-month-old daughter, Madison during homecoming celebrations.
I like that cause it touching.
Being away for a long time and finding out his daughter was born.

the picture that spoke to me the most was picture #2 that shows a woman jumping from a burning building in London into a firefighters arms. As someone who is aspiring to be a firefighter, I understand the sacrifices first responders make to save savable lives.

The picture i like was number 86. It is a picture about a laborador retriever is lying by his owners casket. I like it becuase it shows that even when there owner is died, they can still be loyal to them.

The picture that left the most impression on me was "Love Amid the Riots." I liked the contrast of the couple on the ground and everything going on around them. It shows human nature to love, regardless of what else is going on.

The picture that impacted me the most was the picture were Pres.Obama, Joe Biden and others are in the Situation Room as the mission to capture/ kill Osama Bin Laden was in the mist. This picture is important to me because i was 8 when the attacks on 9/11 occurred.
I remember every feeling i had, and i also remember the feelings that i felt after the fact that Osama was pronounced dead. I can even begin to talk about the losses i had during those attacks; growing up in Washington DC, the year of 2011 was very traumatic. The 9/11 attacks have forever impacted my life, more than anyone could even bare to imagine.

Picture number 87 really "speaks" to me, because I can truly see the joy in this soldiers eyes when he gets to hold and kiss his new born daughter for the first time. She was born while he was away, and I can only imagine what he must be feeling. Its a very inspiring and heart warming picture because this man had not only not been there for her to be born, but he has never seen her in person until this day. She is only 6 months old, and you can still see the happiness in both their eyes when they meet for the first time.

The picture that talked to me the most when they were interviewing Charlie Sheen. This spoke to me the most because i always like two an a half men. It really surprised me that he pretty much lived the life in the show. I knew he drank but i didn't he was that bad. I was kinda disappointed because the show isn't the same with out him.

Anonymous said...

the picture that i liked was number 9 where there is things going all around this couple and they kiss maybe knowing it may be there last time so i thought it was really cute :)

I chose picture number 60 of New York after the tenth Anniversary of the attack of the World Trade Center. At first what stood out the most was the color and contrast with it being at night. Then I thought about it and it really shows how patriotic we are as a country and what we have overcome.

Anonymous said...

The United States celebrates the 10 years anniversary. They light up the dark sky with two lights to remember the year 9/11/01 something people will never forget. Thousands of people died that day fathers, mothers, daughter, and sons. That date will live with the United States forever.

I looked through all of the pictures and couldn't really find anything too interesting but I found this video a few months back and have watched it umpteen amount of times. It never gets old. Basically all it is, is a bunch of people have filmed crazy videos of them doing something that hasn't been done before or caught on video. If you have time to watch it I would. This video applies to me because I have always always wanted to free fall, base jump, and sky dive the minuet I turn 18, and 99% of these video's are people using parachutes.

pic 90, US Troopers fire howitzer and rain death on haji forces. Sometimes I am awed at the power behind such weapons we have innovatively created. It always reminds me of just how true the saying goes: knowledge is power.

I am writing about the picture of a soldier on a helicopter with many other soldiers probably awaiting to be dropped off in their next mission, and he is on his phone looking at a picture of his baby son. This just touches me because I could only imagine what it would be like to not be able to see your family. He was on his way to fight for his life, not knowing if he would ever get to chance to see his child again. I can not even think of what could be running through his head right now. This was a touching picture that made me really appreciate not only what our soldiers do for our country, but also how lucky I am to get to see my parents always and when ever I wanted. It made me feel really blessed.

i could not pick a picture none of them inspire me or catch my attention. they are all pretty much the same and i am hard to inspire because I'm to Mexicanized.
i just cannot find one that i like.

The picture i chose is called unending rubble and it is a picture of the ruins from the march 11 earthquake and tsunami. i chose this picture because i cant even imagine how many people died or lost there homes and belongings. the picture also displays a large ship in the middle of what used to be a neighborhood. It reminds me how cruel and unforgiving nature can be.

Anonymous said...

I liked many of them but my favorite was number 94. It showed a bunch of people on a little dock and right next to a huge alligator/crockadile, and one of them were touching it!!!!

Anonymous said...

i liked the one with the dog sleeping under the coffin it shows true loyalty. that dog stayed by the masters side even when the dog knew its master was dead.

Anonymous said...

I chose picture 105 out of 107. I absolutely love this picture! I am so happy that this couple was finally able to get married. It is cool that on the day the law passed they went and got married. Both of the men worked in the New York City hall and the mayor of New York was there to officiate it. I hope they legalize gay rights in more states so other couples are able to get married.

I chose the picture of the ginormous crocodile rising up out of the water. I chose this one because it proves that there are still mysterious in the world that remain hidden. According to the description of the photo the crocodile lost an arm to a shark. How does a shark get into fresh water and what happened to the shark?

Anonymous said...

Picture number 9
i picked this picture because kim jung il's dead is big problem for whe world.
In this picture, everybody sit down infront of the big statue of kimjungil. I'm from south korea and i'm really know about north korea. No respect, No freedom is there. Now, kimjungil dead but his son became king. I'm really worried about it.

i like the picture of obama playing ping pong . he is h=very boss-Like and it shows that even a president has sweet skills :)

Mourning His Master - It's sad that Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson had to leave his dog, who obviously he had a close relationship with, because he was killed in the afghanistan. Because of all the wars there's more people that have died, they left all there families and loved ones. Its like a vacant whole in their lives, and what ever we do now won't take bake what happened.

Anonymous said...

I chose the picture called "Love Amid the Riots". It shows that even when chaos is going on, you still can show each other how much you mean to each other. It's almost like nothing else matters except for that one person. It said in the description that she had been knocked down by the police so he is being a great person by comforting her.

Anonymous said...

The picture that impacted me the most showed a soldier holding his phone, while looking at a picture of his daughter. He was surrounded by his fellow soldiers, in a dark room. The expression on his face said " i wish i could hold my daughter" as he admired her picture with love in his eyes.
This spoke to me because he represents a vast amount of soldiers who probably do this everyday. He is sacrificing time with his daughter to keep his country safe.

Anonymous said...

The picture that I chose was #105 called "Just Married". This picture shows a gay couple hugging their children in New York after they were finally able to get married. I chose this picture because the joy expressed on their faces when they were finally able to get married was really awesome to see. I found this picture especially sweet because of how the couple was able to be with their kids. It was also awesome to see ALL people finally being treated as equals!

i would choose the fatal racing accident that happened in las vegas because i love this sport and i hate to see someone die

Anonymous said...

I choose the picture number 14. It is the picture about the Honda Factory in Ayudthaya (a province in Thailand) was under water. This flooding damaged many provinces in Thailand. It is the most severe I ever seen. Now, some areas was recovered already. But, the southern part still has to deal with this situation.

I took picture number 56. It's called unendign rubble and you can see what happened in japan after the tsunami. I think it was a big thing for every one of us. I remember talking about it almost in every subject in school. It wasn't just about the tsunami, also about nuclear energie, if we should continiue produsing it or not. It's still a huge thing and it will always be!
