I actually agree with the fact that Big Brother is watching too closely. One reason why is because, while Internet safety is good, too much monitoring is bad for privacy. Also, some people may not like being monitored by the government. It can keep hackers from succeeding in their goals, but it can also annoy those who just want to chat.

In addition, people get annoyed with too much Internet security. For example, when the SOPA bill was first announced, it was met with large amounts of hate from the public. They managed to succeed in getting it rejected, but it's been coming back several times since. Too much Internet security can easily make others angry. Therefore, Big Brother is indeed watching us too closely.

I do not agree with this article. The country we live in does have surveillance, but not on the scale of of 1984. In 1984 they monitor thoughts, dreams, and every single movement. IN our society its not possible to watch thoughts or people dreams. The US Government isn't rounding people up and sending them to their deaths for thoughts.

I'm not going to lie and say that we aren't monitored in our movements, and activities, because we are. The government does it to make sure it's own people aren't planning some massive, possibly violets acts, such as a revolt.

what they trying to say about after birth and birth control. how they can be all sort of freedom.

I'm not surprised to see that we are spied on, of course with the situation people should feel protected by this. I plan to go into the military so I cant really disagree to this but if it was last year then yes I would disagree. "Big Brother" reminds me of the pink floyd version "Big Mother" in one of there songs. Don't we live in the country where we can live in peace and in the privacy of our homes? It fascinates me how things work in this world. We should have free knowledge, not to be spied on while learning.

I totally agree with the statements made in the article. The government has become increasingly involved in its citizens and now due to the introduction of the internet you can learn anything about anybody. The only way for us as Americans to try and break free from this grip the government has on us is to have never used the internet ever but we can never do that because it has become a huge part of the American lifestyle. Everyone has a facebook, twitter or instagram. It is not okay for the government to be involved in are lives there has to be some separation and a guide line. But how can people say that when we post everything on the internet that will stay there forever. We can't blame the government when we are the ones feeding the the information. But if we didn't feed the government information it would be wrong to invade our lives but not only can they do it anybody with a computer can.

I do agree with this article. The use of hidden cameras should not be needed today in our modern lives. One persons privacy should not become another which goes along with the social network spying as well. Everything happening today is pretty much happening with the same concept as '1984'but just with modern day applications, just like the facebook spying, or the anti-sex league. Today they are making it truly seem like "Big Brother" is watching you.

I think i'm in the middle because without the government i feel a lot of us would be lost and not know what to do with all the freedom there would be without a government. but i do believe the government is watching to close but again most of us need the government. that's what i think..

I find myself somewhere in the middle when it comes to the government. I do feel though the government should keep an eye on the country to avoid trouble but that does not necessarily entitle them to knowing every aspect of our lives. If the government is working to keep us safe rather than interfere with personal business then that is completely fine but It is never okay to interfere with the personal lives of others without their consult.

I believe that spying on Americans is completely outrages.Spying on someone is taking there freedom away from them. if the government could see everything your doing at all times no one would have no privacy. There are some things people want to keep private but now that is not available.

I do agree with Baele's opinion on "Big Brother", because the government does have a lot of control over us and the book 1982 is somewhat starting to come true. Are government is slowly becoming totalitarianism... Eventually, I do believe the government will be constantly watching us and spying on us without are knowledge and I don't think that is right at all. I think us as Americans should do something about it because we deserve to have are privacy and the government should not be able to take that from us. We as Americans have rights and if the government does that they are breaking and taking are rights away.

im in a high level but in this one it a low because it cant betrue

I do not believe the government has the right to hack into our social media and spy on us we don't spy on them i really do not see the point in them being so nosy. I think it's disrespectful and i don't like the invasion in privacy they think they have the right to do so.. but they are wrong. They should not have the right to invade our privacy we are doing nothing wrong they are not our parents they don't need to "check up" on us.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the article, that the government is watching us too close because people have the right to there privacy. We Americans do not really have a say in what our government does, even though we should. So even if we wanted to stop it we honestly not be able to. It may be okay in only very rare situations, like if the government gets a tip about someone planning on doing something harmful, then i feel like that is okay, but only then is it okay.

Ash, I disagree with you and agree at the same time with your comment. You are right in the fact that the government isn't following or watching its citizens to that extent yet it is very possible for them to due to our fascination with sharing our lives on the internet for the whole world to see. Therefore they could intervene in our lives

Rozalyn, I have to agree with you there.

1.) It is necessary for the government to know some info about us. If someone commits a crime, knowing more about the person will create better security for our society.
3.) I don't think it will be a problem, as long as the government respects our right to freedom of speech.

Anonymous said...

I think big brother is watching closely because it says in the first sentence that "It appears that the police now have a device that can read license plates and check if a car is unregistered, uninsured or stolen." Due to this technology I think there is going to be a big change in the amount of crime in stolen cars etc. I think the government should do this because if the car is stolen, not insured, etc then they will have to pull them over and look at their information anyways.

Anonymous said...

I disagree with the article because it shows that the government has to much power. Although Internet safety is a good thing, we should have some freedom about what we post.On the other hand Hidden cameras are needed because people these days are not trustworthy in the world today.

I would have to disagree because its not fair that the goverment can do what they want. Invading our civil rights and hearing our phone calls is just not fair. It feels like you have no privacy at all in this country. I think we should all have a vote on this and settle it our way. It feels like the goverment is always spying on us like were criminals. Not only are they monitoring our phones but there monitoring our facebooks and reading our license plates. Closing abortion clinics will be a dramatic impact to a lot of teenagers. Especially if you take away birth control pills from them. What if someone gets raped and they don't want to keep the baby. plus those are private things that the goverment dosent need to know about.

1)I'm somewhere in the middle i think that big brother is watching to closely but then again I don't I think everyone deserves privacy but not if they're doing something bad like they said if you don't have anything to hide, you have nothing to be afraid of. I understand the government just wan'ts to make sure everyone is safe but some things should be kept private like documents about personal stuff like what happens at the doctor or if you have a medical condition you don't want anyone to know about its no ones business but your own. I think its only okay for the government to invade in our personal life if something is going wrong in you're life and you're putting yourself at danger of if you're putting someone else at danger that's the only reason I would think its okay.

I don't think CNN is crap, its news, just like every other news company. They post from their point of view, just like ABC, or NBC. No news companies opinion is better than the others. Bluh

Anonymous said...

I do not agree with any of this because it all seems wrong how the government can just spy on us. It doesn't seem accurate to just be able to go into someones private life and just be able to hear their conversation and just simply watch them in their everyday life. we will never have our own private life if the government can spy on us.

Anonymous said...

i agree that NSA does this so they can look for terrorist and drug dealers but only the people that look suspicious no the entire nation we have rights, where they have to respect are privacy, what Edward snowden did was that he open a door and see what the government is doing to are private information. We can even trust are own government now for the things they are doing to are people to US!! if they want to do something they have to ask us if we agree and if it will be a benefit to us is it this supposed to be a democracy not a communist country.

Anonymous said...

i think jake epstien is completely wrong in every way possible.

Anonymous said...

What i got out of "Big Brother" was us citizen's losing most of our privacy, and them having all of our info and able to get into everything we have. I do not agree with the article, I feel everyone should have there own privacy, and I feel the government should never look at our private life without permission and/or broke the law.

Anonymous said...

have people seen the new about az and they have crack down 75% of drug smuggler from mexico

Anonymous said...

i agree with you bess i feel like the governemt really does think they can control everything we do by doing this when they cant control us

Anonymous said...

The NSA needs to stop. It isn't fair that we are being spied on in our daily life. Privacy is a huge part of our "freedom" we have in our democratic government. We, the people should be asked weather or not we feel okay with this sort of thing. They claim it keeps us safe, but honestly, what is safe about this? I feel the only time this is okay, is when they have a big lead in a drug bust or murder case. Cameras for the mirrors in bathrooms, tv's, and anywhere else is ridiculous. There's no need to make them hidden. Even hacking into your home computer camera is so far out there. We need to revive our dying freedom.

Anonymous said...

Hidden cameras would cost billions of dollars, and it has always been human nature to not follow all rules

Anonymous said...

With Jonathan Holden's comment of the SOPA bill, the government was gonna get jumped by the public for a stupid decision.

Anonymous said...

Donovan, wow i never thought about it that way. that's a very interesting way of looking at this and a very nice way to explain your reasons to agree. after reading your comment i feel more on the agree side but im still in the middle. great job :)

Anonymous said...

I disagree because, whats the whole point of having privacy when the big brother are able and have the right to get into your internet account and also be watching over you the whole time.

Anonymous said...

Honestly i am in the middle when it comes to this topic because the government should be involved in certain parts of are lives and some parts they shouldn't. They should be able to invade our private lives if they have a great reason like if someone was planning to murder someone or a terorist attack stuff like that. But when it comes to facebook and phone calls to your family they really should not be listening in or reading your post. That is your life your private conversations with someone really they don't need to know about that they should be working toward something really important like making sure troops get back safely and fast and equal marriage rights stuff like that. This is what truely matters not sitting on a computer reading my facebook post wishing my friends a happy birthday, or me on a phone talking to my uncle across that state.

Mairanda Hager, I agree with you. Some people should not have the privacy of others.

Anonymous said...

Ryan i agree with you 100 %

Anonymous said...

Ash.. I know What does that have to do with that.

Anonymous said...

Robert i agree with that

I think that when a government spy's on its people it just and excuse to get people in trouble for things they would not have got in trouble for if the spying had never happened. When Edward Snowden told everyone he was the one who got turned into the bad guy in reality the NSA are the bad guys. what Snowden did is he broke a contract what the NSA did is against law it is illegal to collect information about a group of people or a single person with out a open investigation or a warrant.

Anonymous said...

I am somewhere in the middle. I think that the government is watching to closely, and that we don`t have much privacy on the internet. But I also see the fact that they want control.

I think the goverment can look closely if the people have done something illegal, too see what they have been doing or planning. But I don`t think they should have the right to innocent people`s privacy.

Anonymous said...

it remarkable for people to stay in to cnn every day one thing at supsrided me is same sex marriage

Anonymous said...

I agree partly, because in some special causes it is good that the nsa can watch what some people do, therewith they can stop terrorist attacks or other bad things, what we normally not can stop when they don't watch in our computers. But sometimes the government just want the force about everything and everybody and I think they don't have the right to hack them in our computers. I can't say what the right or wrong thing is and so I find my mind somewhere in the middle.
