First Amendment Rights

You have five freedoms or rights that are stated in the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. Of those five freedoms/rights, which one would you be willing to give up and why?

I would give up the right to peaceably to assemble. I dont really use assemble really like assemble or protest

I would be willing to give up the freedom of press because some times people post or print business that isn't their own, and they don't have any business getting into. Just because you know something about someone doesn't mean you should be able to make a news article, post all over facebook or what ever.

The right of press could be given up. If we have the right of free speech and petition then I feel the freedom of press is needless. But then again I cannot speak for others, I myself have no use for it in my life.

Boy, that's a good question, but unfortunately, I can't answer: all of them are good and have good reasons for being there, so to be honest, I'm not so sure.

I think I would give up the right to freedom of the press. There's other ways you can get your point across by doing things such as protesting, which in my opinion gets a point across much easier than a book does.

i do agree with you Lienardt i do agree

Anonymous said...

I Austin Agustus Julian would give up the press because we dont really need to have press in the First Amendment rights!

Anonymous said...

Tristen, Just because you don't use it now doesn't mean you wont use it in the future

Anonymous said...

Tihey i agree with you some what! because we dont really need to protest

Anonymous said...

Gage, you've got a really good point.

Anonymous said...

what facebook i use facebook

Anonymous said...

i dont really want to get rid of any of my rights but if i had too, i guess it would be the power to assemble.

Anonymous said...

I would give up the freedom to assemble because there are other ways of getting your word across. You don't necessarily have to stand on a corner and tell people you hate whatever.

Anonymous said...

i would give up The right to assemble. the other one's are more important. this is the only one i could do without.

Anonymous said...

I don't really know what right I would give up, possibly press because the press tends to be so biased you can't get the truth, but other than that I'm not sure what I could give up.

I would give up the right to bare arms. i don't think it would be necessary for everyone to own guns.

Anonymous said...

i would give up the right to peaceable assemble because i personal believe it is the least important. The rights like freedom of speech and religion are more important because its kinda personal.

Anonymous said...

What freedom would I be willing to get rid of from the First Amendment? Well that is a really hard thing to decide, because everyone is important in their own way. I would not get rid of any of them.

Anonymous said...

I would give away the freedom to peaceably assemble. Although peaceably assembling may be important when it comes to getting your point of view across, other rights are definitely more valuable such as freedom of religion, freedom of thought, and freedom of speech which can be just as useful when it comes to expressing your thoughts.

Jonathan Holden I AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are america!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

they should make one of the amendent for the goverment shutdown it messed up and sorry about the spelling

Anonymous said...

The first ammendment right that I would be willing to give up is the freedom of religion. All of the rights are needed in a good society but out of all of the 5 this one seems the least important. All the other rights just seem more important than this one

Anonymous said...

I would give up the right for the peaceful assemble. I don't feel like i would really need that one. I would rather give it up than for the freedom of speech or for the freedom of religion.

First off, tristen, don't write unnecessary comments, its not needed. Just comment on the post then comment about someone elses. I dont see how facebook is related.

I would give up the freedom of the press, I dont see how we need to post lies to the public.

I Agree with you Gage

Anonymous said...

I would give up freedom of press because people tend to get into other peoples business and I don't think its right and I could live without it. You can do other things to get people to listen to what you have to say.

Anonymous said...

i would have to give up the freedom of press and even though i would give it up reluctantly it is the one that i find little importance in.

Anonymous said...

i dont like to protest only if it nascar then im pissed

Anonymous said...

i would give up the bare arms. i don't thinks its necessary for people to have guns in there home, your kids can take it to school or show of to there friends and just so they can be cool they will shoot someone .

Anonymous said...

Gage also has a really great point, I concur with his thoughts.

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry pooperscooper but you are far more than wrong. If we don't assemble peacefully how will there ever be peace?

Anonymous said...

I agree with you Gage 100 %

Anonymous said...

Austin I disagree with you because we need press in order to reveal the dark sides of government. Without press we are more prone to corruption.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you tristen

MURICA

Anonymous said...

I would give it the freedom of Press and speech, for the right of people peaceably to assemble

Anonymous said...

I think that Gage has a really good point.

Anonymous said...

I have to agree with Roz about how I would not change anything.

Anonymous said...

i guess the peace able assemblies because if i can't have one in the future i could always have a violent one...

Anonymous said...

i Agree with you Mairanda

The least- used right given is the right to petition the government. Bigthink.com states: "Online petitions, when incorporated into a well thought out, strategic advocacy campaign, can be extremely effective at alerting elected officials about the will of their constituents." While the right to petition could be effective, there isn't enough of it compared to the other four rights.

I would give up speech the reason for that is, I wouldn't care if there was restrictions on what we could say.

If i had the option to keep all my rights i would like to keep all them because they are all there for a good reason so they should all stay but if i had to give one up one i would do freedom of press because being in other peoples business is not okay and i do not like when people are in my business so i am pretty sure everyone else feels they same way.

Anonymous said...

wow jake austin and jack you guys are such immature snobs i cant beilieve you guys are feeling this way ugh!!! gosh you guys ARE UNBELIEVABLE!!! you should be ashamed of your selfs

Anonymous said...

Its more like the freedom of speech when it comes to these comments. Silence.

Anonymous said...

I am agreeing with you Gage. If we don't have the right to peaceful assemble we wont be able to protest if we don't agree with something

Anonymous said...

Mairanda i agree with you, they do tend to get into other peoples business. And its wrong.

Anonymous said...

yo ni se de que esten hablando

Anonymous said...

What does Nascar have to do with this?

Anonymous said...

I would probably have to give up freedom of press because its not fair how people and protestors can just say whatever they want thats not true and just get away with people beleiving them.

Anonymous said...

Awwe Marcus, you're so cute. Love your comment<3

Anonymous said...

Robert i'm in love with your comment! and you! <3

At the moment I would give up my right of petition, because at the moment all other rights are more important for me , but I do not know how I would decide in one or teen years. The right of speech is important to me to say what I think without getting in to jail. The right of press is Important, because I want to read the truth about what is going on in the world. The right of assemble is important to protastate when I think something is wrong. And the right of religion allows me to trust in whatever I think. And the right of petition I need less then the others.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't rib any of these because I think they are all in any kind necessary.

Anonymous said...

I think I would give up the freedom of the press, because a lot of people write a lot of mean things they never would dare to say in real life.

Anonymous said...

yea and how about shutdown i believe we need a new ammentment

"I would give up the right to bare arms. i don't think it would be necessary for everyone to own guns"

That is not part of the first amendment. The right to bare arms is the second amendment

If i had to give up any of are rights, witch are already slowly being taken away, I would give up my right to religion because i am not religious and it seems like the lest important right.

Anonymous said...

I would give up my freedom because I would rather have the right to bear arms because then I can have safety even if I don't have the freedom of speech.

If I had to give my rights or freedom I would not live in this country because bad things will happen and it will turn into a dictatorship and I could not look at the U.S anymore. Ever since the we started this country we have been well of with these rules, changing them or giving them away will make everything worse. This country will also be a tyranny and everyone will leave, not just me.
