It did not motivate me at all. It was things that we are hearing from are parents. Yes and no because it should be delivered by are parents to. All the people who have dropped out.
Anthony Smith
1. I guess it was fine but it was kinda something that people should already know i mean dont follow your failures as a sign you suck learn from it. Thmas Edison i didnt learn to make a lightbulb I learned a thousand ways not to make one. 2. I like how he was directing the students and making them think about themselves 3. I dont see why not I mean he's the president he must be doing something right 4. I guess congress dudes or previous slackers you know dudes that had a first hand experience
i think the presidents speech is inspirational to all students in school. if the speech was made by anyone else no one would've taken the person seriously. Also it wouldn't of been televised all over the country in homes and in schools. The president needed to make this speech for our country to rebuild our economy and have the kids of the future take school seriously and get a good education.

1. I thought the speech was well written and said. I'm not sure it was motivating, because I hear this from my mom a lot.
2. Like: I liked how he said great words and was probably motivating to many young children.
Dislike: I felt like the speech was for younger kids who still have a while of schooling to go, or who haven't given much thought to pursuing a successful life ahead of them or who don't have motivating people in their life to help them along the way.
3. I think that the speech given by the president is important because if it was given by parents, kids would feel like it was just another speech that will go through one ear and out the other.
4. Like I said up above I think that the president is the correct person to give this speech.
The speech did not motivate me much at all, but then again not much does. The speech was good and as long as one student benefits from it then it was necessary. The president is the highest man in the land so him delivering the speech makes sense. Other successful people would be good at making similar speeches.
I think the speech will effect some people but the people who don't like Obama will be effected negatively. I have heard this speech from parents and teacher and if you won't listen to them who would you listen to? I think the speech basically said stay in school and thats really what I do anyway... The speech would sound better from someone thats a really great speaker or your parents.
It is the same things that your parents and everyone else older than you have told you for years, so it did not make much difference to me. I liked how he made funny examples so people laugh. I don't think that there is much i disliked. It is somewhat important that the speech be delivered by the president, a reason is for the students that don't want to go to school are inspired because the president is telling them too. Famous people would, cause many people are fans of them, and that many want too become as great as them, thus they will be inspired to work hard in school.
I think it made me realize what he was saying was true. I liked it all, i mean he was right with the things he was saying. It should, because people will listen to him more then anyone else. Not many
Obama knows how to talk to the audience and give a speech, but im not sure that it motivated me. I liked it because obama knows how to deliver a speech but I didn't like that he said dropping out of school is failing your country. No because we are already hearing this from our parents. I think that people who have gone trhough dropping out should be the ones to do the speech
1. It motivated me a little bit, because he was trying to relate with us and not scold us so much like our parents sometimes do.
2. I liked that he tried to relate with us by talking about his life experiences when he was our ages and
there was anything that I really disliked.
3. I don't know because that can kind of put pressure on us and lead us in a different direction, but I think someone should talk to us about staying in school.
4. I think the other people that would be effective would be people that thought of dropping out of school and didn't so they could tell a story.

The speech was really the same thing our parents and teachers have always said, but coming from the president makes it just a little bit more serious. I liked that he actually gave this speech, and did it at a highschool, but I don't really like that he mentioned the "wash your hands" thing. I was a bit irrelevant to the topic. I belive that it was a good idea to have the president restate these things, because we don't really think its important when our parents say it, but the president runs te country. So of course he's important. I don't really think there is anyone else who could have gotten the message across in the same way that the president did.
I think that was a good speech i really got me motivated but it would have helped me in freshman year oh well ill start now. I really like it I don't think there wasn't anything I dislike. I think that they shouldn't watch only because the are to young mabey in 4th grade. People in collage should also watch it
The speech that president Obama gave did motivate me a little bit to do better in school and to take a better interest in school.
i liked that he was concerned about the future of the kids of America. I think it is i good thing but i dont nessesarilly think that
i did not motivate me it only proved how much of liar he is if you look at his book and past friends they will tell you completely different stories then what he told in the speech. i didnt like anything about the speech it says we have a responsibility to go to school responsibilities come with benefits what benifits do we get from going to school?
no the president wasnt educated in america so he does not know how the schools are.
no one if citizens want to stay in school then they choose to we dont need to be told that will make us rebel and it will result in a civil war amongst the citizens of america
I thought that the speech was necessary to show that he is interested in trying to encourage America's youth. I don't think that it should have been as controversial as it was because as President, he needs to take interest in people teens and younger. It was well said, and even though kids say that they've 'already heard it' from parents and teachers, it's something that you should keep hearing over and over to help you remember what you're working towards, and remind you that there is a purpose for something that sometimes seems useless.
1. I'm pleased to see that the president is trying to reach out and help motivate kids to do well in school, but I'm very disappointed by the fact that so many parents took their kids out of school.
2. I pretty much liked the whole speech, aside from the very end where he said "God bless America". The way I see it, he should've been saying "God forgive America".
3. Yes, because Obama was poplar with a large amount of younger people, so they're more likely to listen to his words than some other person's.
4. How should I know?
1.) This speech is something that we've heard a thousand times. i agree with the problems addressed and hope that because it was our president speaking, more people will listen. but i have my doubts.
2.) I liked how he used examples other than from his own life. I think that talking to high schoolers and middle schoolers is great. but kids in third grade and down are a bit young to be asked to watch this and have so much responsibility put on their sholders.
3.) Sure, its great that the president gave this speach, and for now maybe some of us are motivated but in truth, by the end of the week that motivation will have been forgotten. So did it really make a difference?
4.) Some one that the kids respect. I think its different for every individual and that some kids, no matter who gives the speach, it just won't sink in.
i dont think the speech was bad. i liked the message the president gave in the speech. i think the president (although i dont agree with many of his polocies) was a good person to give the speech beacause many people look up to him as an insperation.
the speech wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. i heard thare were some things in the speech that i didnt agree with. those things did not apear so the speech wasnt bad. i liked the message that the president gave in that speech. i dont nessisaraly think the preident should have done the speech but i dont dissagree with it. i think it was a good thing beacause a lot of people look up to the president.

I think Obama's speech was important because, students aren't trying hard enough in school. If we don't have a good enough education, America's future will not be good. It makes me think about that movie "Idiocracy", which is about how all the American's became really stupid over a long period of time. This speech needed to be addressed by the president because, it is really important and if anyone else was speaking no one would listen.

I think the speech was a good motivator, it wasn't cheesy or stereotypical, it actually made sense, I love it. I like how he put himself in our shoes and it wasn't him just yelling us to do things and all of that dumb crap. It was really good in my mind. I think the President was a good choice to do this speech in our generation considering he is our first non white president, it is amazing. Since he has such a big impact it is good to have an influential person give this speech. I really don't know who else would be a good speaker someone who can relate and have a big impact on kids' lives. Thats what I think about it.

It didn't really motivate me because all he said was stay in school to get a better job and I already knew that. I like how he was directing it to k-12. I don't really think he had to give the speech because alot of people already know to stay in school for a better job.
i think the speech was somewhat inspirational there was alot of good things that he said that were all too true and i think students need to take his words into consideration

I don't think that is was necessary for the president of the united states to deliver a message like that. It has motivated me to some degree because I see how it is helpful to stay in school and get good grades so we can all get good jobs. It is very important that we all get a good income to have a nice house and support our families. The school principle should give speeches to the school, and also should support everyone who attends the school and surrounding neighborhoods.
The president can definitely give a speech. Thats for sure. But unfortunately, except for all his personal stories, I have heard it all before. It didn't really impact me because it was all old news.
I think after hearing it it made me want to find that one thing that im good at, but i never intended on dropping out of school.
I think it was all very positive and a good speech.
I think yes you should here it from the president but you should also hear it from people more close to you like parents or someone you really look up to.
People who did drop out of school and grow up having trouble finding jobs and possibly having a drug problem, i think they would be a could person to give the speech.
1. no it didnt really, it was just hearing someone else telling us to do good and stay in school
2. ummmm......it was nice that he gave himself as an example but at the same time its basically what we hear from most adults....
3. i dont think its important for the president to give a speech about it but its alright
4. i think basically your family or just someone your closer to you
also it would be best from someone that droped out and had some real hard times cause of it
i think it was very appropriate for President Obama to give this speech about staying in school. kids rarely listen to their teachers and parents, why not have someone more important shine the light on issues like these. i liked the fact that he was directly speaking to kids and the way he spoke to them, not talking to them like their 5 but not adults. it was great. :)
1. well he just pretty much just repeated what everyone says about school, but it was special that the president cares enough to have a public speech about it.
2. i like that he wants everyone to get an education, i didn't like the part when he was talking about goals and how "chances are they won't happen" he just like let some people down.
3. yes, he is a good person to give the speech because many people look up the presidnet.
4. maybe someone famous, because people look up to them too.
I really loved the speech. I liked how it was nice and clear so I could understand it. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was a little to long. This speech is very important, therefore when the president gave it students started to realize the gravity of the situstion. I think that one way we could tell american students about how important ataying in school is, is by simply spreading the positive word.
I think that the speech was very good. I like how he told about his life and having to study at 430 in the morning. It is important to have the president talk about education to try to keep people in school.
my response? i dont have much of one. i have heard it all before from teachers, parents, and family. it also doesnt help that im not the biggest fan of obama. but that isnt the reason i wasnt motivated by the speech. i just didnt hear anything knew.
I didnt think the speech was horrible i just dont like the way he speaks is one thing that i disliked the most. i hate his random pauses. but the best part was when he told us to stay home when were sick, cause thats true!
i think that speech could be givin by anyone, but yeah the prez is probably the best, only cause hes so popular right now and people idolize him.
Yes i will admit that after listening to the pesidents speech i was motivated to do beter in school and yo put more time into my work. I like that the president showed a personal interest in the education of our nationds youth and that it seemed that he reslly meant what he was saying. I feel that if there has to be a speech given on the impotance of staying in school then yes i believe that it should be given by the president. I think that anyone really that has accomplished alot in life we be able to deliver the speech but i still think that having the president give the speech especially at a high school was a really wise move to get the message out there.
This speech is like having your parents and teachers talk to us in masses about staying in school, I personally was not motivated at all because i am not planning to drop out At anytime and this is for those hat hate school and need to know the benefits of an education and I'm sorry but I really didn't want to listen to it because I do not approve of our president and I really could care less about his speech about education that we get from our parents everytime we want to give up and drop out or everytime our grades are low.
After reading and viewing the speech a total of 3 times it just seems like a well put together vision of something my dad say every other week. It was kind of annoying. If it was delivered by anyone else it would not have received as much publicity or viewing at the time it was first given. I liked that it was straight forward and well laid out, but I disliked that it contained much of the things I here almost every other day. I do not believe that the message could be no better delivered by anyone but the person that it was delivered by.
His speech did not motivate me that much. yes we should stay in school and get a education. we hear it every day from our parents. yet some students do drop out of school and don't go to college! every kid knows that it's important and we hear it every day of our lives. it was not something new to me at all. more kids should take school seriously and get an education and go to college and do something with there life! So it did not motivate because i already knew half the stuff he was saying!
I agree 100% with Demi S..
1. It didn't exactly motivate me, because I already know the importance of education & college and my parents recite these things all the time. However, I think it is necessary for the President to show his concern for the education of the students of America.
2. I liked how forceful the President was while giving his speech. He made it very serious, which is a good thing, because education is a very serious subject. I disliked how he was putting down people who possibly wanted to play professional sports as a profession. Yes, everyone should have a college/high school education despite what they want to be. But he shouldn't have been putting down those who aspire athletic careers.
3. Yes, I believe he did the right thing by giving the speech. As stated above, I think the President should really show his interest and concern about education.
4. I think anyone can say it.. it just varies from student to student who the person is that they'll listen to, whether it's a political leader, celebrity, or family member.
it kinda did in the fact that if you dont have a education your not going to go far. our parents give us that speach all the time. maybe by all the people
yes and no.its things that we hear from our partents all the time. and the only other person would be to hear it from a drop out
