Subjects!!! It is time to take a stand. I realize that I have made some of you unhappy, but is that any reason to break ties that bind us to each other. You are English, you are England, you are important!! Stop this madness. I demand it. Have I not fed you, protected you from the French and Indians? Do I not take great care of you. You want for nothing. It is time to write me a letter explaining your position. Are you for or against your FAMILY, your heritage, your country? Write me a letter, make sure to include at least four reason why you are a loyalist or a patriot. I will not rest until I hear from all of you.

Compare and Contrast the American Revolution and the Revolutions in the Middle East.

1. Who were the people joining the American Revolution? Who are the people joining the Middle Eastern Revolutions.

American History!?

Democracy: the political orientation of those who favor government by the people or by their elected representatives

Yet this was denied Native Americans until the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924 gave them that right. In 1956 the State of Utah became the last State to grant that right.
Many states, including, New Mexico overtly did not allow Native Americans to vote until 1962. Which is abysmal given that New Mexico has a large Native population.

Denied to African American males until the 15th Amendment which states:
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

And denied to American women until August of 1920, when the 19th Amendment was signed stating:
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.

We have learned in class the plight of the Native Americans, African Americans pre-Civil War, and now the fight American women had to go through in order to vote.

Last Tuesday, President Obama gave the State of the Union Address.
1. What do you feel is the biggest problem the United State is facing? Why? Did President Obama address this issue in his speech? If so, what did he say?

Tragedy In Tucson

Our blog this week is twofold:
One: Express your thoughts and feelings on the shooting in Tucson last Saturday. What are your thoughts on how to stop something like this from happening again? Is it political? Is it due to funding cuts in mental health...?
Two: The Westboro Baptist Church out of Oklahoma protests American soldiers funerals, Coretta Scott King's and Elizabeth Edward's funeral and had planned on protesting at the funeral of the 9 year old girl that was killed in Saturday's shooting. My question to you is what amendment in the Bill of Rights gives the Church members the right to do something that most consider questionable?
